Hey guys, I have a HKS SS exhaust mainifold on my car and it is cracked in two spots. I'm looking for someone that can tig weld it up for me in the Brisbane area.
The total amount of welding required would be around 4 inches. I will remove it from the car and I can bring it to you.

If you or anyone you know can help me out, let me know.

Thanks, Dan

I can help you Dan

"THROW IT IN THE BIN!!!!" It will continue to crack, as nice as they work they are very prone to cracking unfortunatley.

On a more positive side it should be too tricky to repair,

get someone to brace the dump pipe to the engine block, it will prolong the cracking of the manifold again....

Its not the welds that have cracked, the actual metal piping has. You could weld it, but the pipes will crack again and again til one day it'll be all covered in clumps of welds like a patchwork quilt. IMO save yourself the hassle of bandaiding and removing/refitting it time and time again by investing in a quality cast or custom steampipe manifold. A HPC ceramic coated 6-Boost manifold is the choice of many unless you know somebody who can make one up for you with a decent merge collector.
PS... before fitting a replacement maniold, make sure you piss those exhaust studs and nuts off the head with brand spanking new ones, before they seize on and snap off in the head when you're trying to loosen off the nuts ;)

Action dan in NZ has been making some pretty sexy steam pipe manifolds, and with the exchange rate they are very attractive in price. His work keeps on looking better and better. Look him up on facebook for a look at his work. Actiondan Customs.
Id never buy a stainless maifold for a non race car as they crack over time and id heat wrap it anyway (which is more likely to make it crack) so no need for the bling. Steam pipe is the way to go.

hey guys, thanks for all the replies, i actually got it welded at work. came up pretty nice.
then i decided against refitting it and got a stock evo8 manifold for $130.
works great and now no ticking!! anyone know where i can get a stock heat shield? i've looked everywhere.

Dan
