New fuel pump overfueling?

hi all,

last week i got a walbro 255 pump put in my evo 1. Now the car is running rich, not making as much power and spitting fuel out the exhaust, backfiring etc. Should i be getting a fuel pressure regulator put in, or just increasing the boost?
