Hey guys, my names Rory, from brisbane.

Ive been looking around on the forum for quite some time now, reading and learning.
I had a nice plan to introduce myself and car along with some nice photo's and a list of what i've done to it blah blah blah..

But as luck would have it, 2 weeks ago driving to work, my car overheated twice, after stopping on the side of the road, letting it cool, adding water,
i eventually nursed it to work and noticed a massive pool of oil on top of my gearbox, and the engine was basically dry.

I have since torn the engine apart, cleaned everything, replaced all gaskets including the head gasket, which hadn't blown and looked quite good,
also the head and block look to be in good condition.

My main concern now is where did the oil come from, has anybody had a similar issue or know where my oil was coming from?

My car is a 92 CC lancer, with only 119,000 on it.

Thanks, and sorry for the massive first post.

Personally I would have looked for the leak before I pulled it apart..Start high and track from there

I had done so with help from my boss who is quite mechanically minded.
We could not find any sign of the source, so head gasket or block was the next place to check.

massive amount? cant see much more than a couple of mouthfulls of oil sitting up there on top of the gearbox. maybe from cas?

better do a dry then wet compression test, cooking a engine can effect the spring tension of the rings and make them seal badly. this results in blowby, and makes it hard to stop leaks

Thanks guys, will be double checking everything you mentioned today and doing compression test.

is it a DOHC......clean the oil pressure switch and cheak that for leaks too....another spot where you can get good size leaks

Thanks for the help guys, the car has ended up taking to much time and money for what its worth,
so ive taken the plunge and will be picking up my new gsr next weekend.
