If you were rebuilding your engine, would you replace the oil pump? I have stripped and cleaned it and it seems to be fine..

The only reason to replace a oil pump is if you see excessive clearance between the lobes of the gears and if there is any scoring or surface damage due to contamination.

if you feel there is noticable clearance, replace it.

Oil pressure was fine when I was using it before and it seems in good condition. It stays then..

If your doing a rebuild why not spend another $170 and get a new oil pump...
Thats what I did.

US Ebay is your friend.

After my engine was rebuilt, oil pressure increased, Enough that the oil filter seal blew off a couple of times, And since there was no oil in the engine It causes damage to the bearings, After the bearings were replaced, The pump was ported, the spring was replaced and a filter with a Nolathane seal is now being used.

Havn't had any problems since..
