Hey everyone :)
Im the new on the block South Aussie to these forums and yeah well not a lot to say about myself I suppose, im a student atm who studies and does multimedia stuff.

Onto the main part though! :p

I currentely own a 1998 CE Mitsubishi Lancer (2Dr Coupe)
with its 1.5L 4G! :O lol all I've done to it currentely is a semi-CAI setup with K&N Pod Filter w/ some piping and so forth (still needing a bracket to hold the piping cause atm its cable tied down onto a piece of foam so it doesnt bounce )

Anyways I was researching total power output and found that with turbo and all of that, I'd get about 100kw approx tops. I kinda thought that was gay lol :) (my car currentely makes half that @ 53.7kw only - lol I joined in on a dyno day with another club)

So I've been trying to research the idea of dropping and EVO6 4G63 into it... and now that leads me to a question about that idea...

If I were to obtain a front cut, would it be basically a straight swap over?
for example, mounting points, putting the evo gearbox in place of the FWD box (with and without the VCE), front brakes, front body/lights.

Also if I wanted to make it AWD would I then need to buy the rear differential w/ driveshafts and the brakes conversion?

Also one more question lol :D if I were to swap over brakes on the front cut and stuff, would the rim points thing (forgot the name) change to 5 point? I cant really afford new rims if I were to do undergo this conversion (well not for awhile) So any recommendations or ways I get through this? As I'm assuming a brake upgrade will need to be done to support the new power! :)

Thanks heaps :)
and nice to meet you all!

oh god 5 views and no-one welcomes him ?? gees ...WELCOME TO THE FORUMS DUDE !!!

the evo 6 motor you can put in be its going to be alot of work. as for 5 stud conversion you can use FTO hubs and bearings. it might be cheaper to run a Evo/Gsr running gear in it (if your on a bugget) or you can keep it N/A and do some nasty shit to it !!!!

Yep, the 1.5 litre's not exactly good for power. Being single cam and all.

Not 100% on this, but it's been done a few times before so I can't imagine it being THAT hard. The majority issue will be compeltely new wiring looms. And you'll probably need to get those e6 front guards to bolt on for clearance so wheels can go on etc.

You need Rear diff (AYC??), rear diff cradle, driveshafts, brakes, IRS, tailshaft, FLOORPAN (is different to suit tailshaft) or some very serious modifications, gearbox, transfer, etc. BIG EXPENSIVE JOB

Yes you'll need a brake upgrade. 5stud conversions can be had for around the 2k mark fully supplied and fitted. You will require new rims but you can get just a set of stock skyline rims or something ot tide you over (very cheap) until you can afford them. This is also an expensive trick :)

welcome dude no very easy to do the hardest part was making it fwd lsd.

As for the breaks use evo 3 fit straight on.
As for going 4 wheel drive if its a coupe its a lot of work but can be done tech sport do it for around 10k.
As for the engine get ur self a e6 half cut and it all drops straight in ask baz he as a mate jeff who did it and know it flys we all seen it on the cruize from afas to the bush

good to see another south aussie on here!

with the price of evo 6's down to around 28k landed and complied these days, it would be pointless doing a 4wd conversion. Likewise with the engine conversion.

Im gonna have to recommend just sticking to the 4g15 and save your money for the real deal.

Your a multimedia student ay? at uni or tafe?

I did a degree in multimedia at Magill Uni (graduated in 04), and am doing a diploma of website design at adelaide tafe at the moment, but have done quite a few multimedia subjects for that.

yes but on the other hand if u love the shape of the coupe why not have the motor to go with it if ther was a evo coupe i would snap it up today same as a super charge allwheel drive magana coupe that would be cool

tafe student, cert4 @ croydon tafe :)

mmm I see the problem with the whole idea of a conversion though, I thought it might cost less than actually buying the car but it seems the opposite now... hrmm :( problem is I can afford a few grand, but not 28k lol! :S that would mean I'd buy a front cut and it would be useless or FWD only, mmm...

I guess this temporarily scraps my plans haha :D

Its nice to know what the costs involved are though, considering I couldnt find it out anywhere else after numerous attempts at seachs on search engines and forums lol :)
