no fun under 2k...

my vr4 has a haltek e6x, when the car is ideling, & driving under 2000rpm, it misfires. this itself doesnt bother me, but when im attempting to drive in heavy traffic on de-acceleration, this ' misfire' causes the car to surge, & sometimes gets that bad that i have to pull the car out of gear cos it feels like its going to rip the diff out!

its only un der 2k this happens, i can de-accel from 7k all the way to 2k without a hint of a problem, as soon as it dips under 2k, starts to miss.

it will also miss under load, well when cruising at say 60 in 5th anyway. its not so noticable when cruising.


i have swapped from my soon to be traded in gsr galant the coil pack, & the igniter & neither madea shred of difference


anyone had a similar problem?

checked your spark plugs? Are they the right type? Have they been fitted properly?

yeah changed em twice, im not sure beyond screwing them in that there are too many variations in the way plugs are installed..

leads are magnecors 8.8mm



are map sensors accurate at low pressure levels?

Er.........there shouldn't be more than one way of puttingthem in. you either fit them properly or not. Hmmm.........I suggest u take the sparkies out and have a look at them.

Spark plug gap could be cause of the prob. If it missed under heavy acceleration thats a good indicator. Fortunately thats an easy prob to fix!

Otherwise it sounds like a fuel/air thing?
