No spark

Hey guys,

Just started having an issue with the gsr.

Started it a couple of days ago to move outside, it started and ran fine. Went to move it back in and it wouldn't start, I didn't have time to figure it out so I just pushed it back in.

Try it again a couple of days later and it started again no problem, later that day I tried again and it started but with a miss and struggles to stay running.

A few days after that I truer again and it won't start at all.

It will crank, there is fuel at the rail judging by the gauge on the fuel reg, the injectors are firing, I checked this by removing a spark plug and cranking and fuel mist blows out the hole on compression. I shoved the loose spark plug back onto the coil ( coil over plug setup ) and cranked and there is no spark.

I'm not sure where to go from here, what parts do I need to test and or replace and how do I test them?

My guess would be the ignitor, would be bad luck for all 4 coils to give in + they are basically new. Other guess would be crank angle sensor? Not really sure though

I would be checking ignitor first then the CAS.
I have a spare ignitor (known to be working) here if needed also.

Thanks, is there any way to test the igniter or just swap for a working one? And same for cas?

Only way I know with ignitor is to swap it into the car.....not sure about CAS.

That's what I thought too, do you have the whole coil/ igniter setup? Any chance of getting it to me before Friday?

Yeah I have it all.....no chance of it getting to you by tomorrow but....even if I express posted it it wouldnt get there I dont think?

Nah don't think it would even get here before the weekend, Aus post are **** these days. I've messaged a couple of local guys and I'll get back to you next week if I have no luck. Thanks

Is there any common cars I can grab these bits off from a wrecker? Like a Magna or something?

What about the hyundai or daewoo that has the 2L, having a mind blank on the car exactly but I remember looking at one cos I was gunna grab the rocker cover

They have similar rocker cover but ignition setup is different Jamie..

Lol....been around a while now man....owned GSRs , FTOs, EVOs, Legnums, FTO powered Mirage etc etc...so am very familiar with the old 3 Diamonds!
