Does anyone know the right off-set for aftermarket 18"rims on our cars?

I'm looking at some 18's with a +35 off-set that have come off a falcon and previously off a 33 skyline.

I bought some r32 rims a few years ago for my old sportsgear, but had to resell them as the offset was way off.

Cheers, Lars

Offset is altered by wheel width so one offset wont work with one width, but may with another.

Factory 15x6.5 ET46

My suggestion is an 18x8 ET38 though an ET35 is fine.
If you want to step up to a 8.5 the ET35 is more suited

dont forget to check your hub centres for clearance, i found this out the hard way. ;)

If you wanna go obscene, get yourself a 18x9.5 ET30 though you will need to check rear clearance most of all, and you will scrub, stretch a 215 on and you should be fine a majority of the time.

With your ride height, I would not run anything over a 225 or 245 profile tyre, I suspect you will severely bash your guards.
I've seen an RVR so low the front of the arch on the rear was bent from a collision with the tyre.

True... i do want to raise the rear about 20mm

I went to King Springs yesterday to get a quote for some custom rear springs made up a little bigger than mine... they quoted me $320, but said they would need the car for 3 whole days to do the job!!

What other springs can i buy off the shelf (or online) that wont cost me having the car off the road for 3 days?? And if you know of any, how much??

You can get the Pedders springs and King Springs, but it depends what you want.

I really like my Cobra Springs, but it depends on how radical on height/performance you want to get (I would consider these "moderate" on both; dropped the HSG-R about 30mm from factory height, and cost NZ$400 for the set of 4):

Maybe Mark can do something custom for you, based on the specs of these springs which they already manufacture, and which do work on the HSG-R.

Also, read through this:

(I have since taken it out for a couple of max velocity blasts, and in some twisties, and have no complaints, based on what I expected the results to be - it ain't no Veyron Super Sport, but nicely handles the HSG's stock power.)

If 46 offset is std, 34 offset gives you 24mm over track = legal
660mm is the std tyre dia, up to 15mm either side of that is legal
6.5" is the std rim, 7.5" wide rims are legal
Up to you to work out from these measurement what size you wanna use.
Cheers !

Thanks mate...

Im more so wondering if anyone knows if a wheel that fits a 91 Hiace will be 5x114.3 or a wheel that fits the Commodore size??

Hiace mite fit but if it doesn't try a wheel off a AU falcon. (for wheel off set)

Don't know about Commodore size

anything over +30 on the rear will run like a mofo on shocks ;) i run 9.5" wide all round and front was ok with +35 but rear needed 5mm spacers and it still rubbed

Bit of a dig, but just been through this.

I'm a massive Watanabe fan ( had them on my S13), problem is a lot of them the bore sizing is wrong :( We need a 67mm when most of them that were released were to suit Skyline/Toyota which runs a 57mm bore.

After a bit of messing around with different rims, I've come across the perfect offset. 17x8 +35mm, which is factory Ford XR6/8 rim sizing.

This is a pic looking directly down on the gaurd.

They were linglongs that were on it, that's a front photo. Tomorrow got some 225/50/17 Yokos to go on, so hoping with a few less mm of tread it'll sit a bit better. Will find out tomorrow night I guess !
