Ok guys so ive been putting up with my brand new engine blowing the dip stick out nearly everytime i give it a hit putting it down to a highly strung engine.

But today i had to check some things in relation to the the dip stick and tubes and ive come up with this.

I have a GC4S hyundai block but i think in the frenzy of chroming things back in the day i chromed the wrong dip stick tube, a 4g63 one.

I cant remember how much oil im chucking in as they are far and few between as the car barely gets driven it also has a moroso alloy sump.

Here is a pick of the chromed 4G63 one and the GC4S one. I think ive been over filling the ol girl so i hope i havnt hurt it as the more i look the more oil i can see. Out the dip stick tube is one thing but all up inside the top timing belt cover is another.

Any help on this would be appriciated guys

Yeah jamo thats the one.

If you could jack that would be awesome.
I built this engine ages ago as i sold the bare 63 block i hoarded the auxiliaries and what not so im not sure if i used the 63 oil pick up or the GC4S one. Are you able to compare the pick ups too jack if you have a 63 one please mate.

Next time i build an engine ots going to plain jane 63 off the shelf bolt ons, what a head f@#$ this car has been.

Well i am of limited use.
found the tube and not the dip stick. The tube is same as the g4cp 2.0 and if i put the 2.0 stick in the 2.4 tube, the full mark is 95mm from the bottom of the seating shoulderof the tube. The bit that stops the tube going all the way into the block.

Maybe you can look to see if the 2.4 and 2.0 share the same part number dipstick.

G4cp 2.0 dipstick is 439mm from full mark to bottom of flange.
this makes the internal length of tube 344mm.

its 355mm if the tube is in the block. Measuring from block on bottom side of tube and keeping tape along outer radius of tube.

hope that is some help.

Actually looking at the tubes shows a difference. The 2.0 has a small flaring to help start the dipstick. The 2.4 is a straight tube.

What details do you need on the pickup? There is no brace on it.
The sump you have will make a difference to the pickup. You really should know the pickup distance from the sump.
Its funny to measure as the faces are at different angles

Thanks jack. As you can see in my pic the chrome one has a way shorter stick than 2.4l i pulled off a g4cs. It doesnt make sense to me that your gp 2.0l one is the same as the gc one ?????? I would have thought a 2.0l is a 2.0l as my chrome 63 one is that much shorter.

Paging mo! Hows your mate getting on with the oil dip stick and tubes we need from hyundai

Maybe yours that you chromed is a 7bolt tube? The cp is a 6bolt. Maybe na blocks have the different tubes as they dont need to get around the na manifold.
I wouldnt think the cp has had the tube changed, nor the cs.

why cant you just bang 5l of oil in the motor and mark the stick at that?
It will be lower, but it wont starve and should stay out of the thrashing crank. This would do you for a test. Then work out how much bigger your sump is compared to the oe one.

Good call jack. Im almost sure the chrome one is the 63 but i could be wrong.

I think ill just order a new tube and stick from hyundai and be done with it.

It does have a cooler and lines jamo which are nearly 1m long each.

But what are the specs for a 63t vr4. I guessing 4.5l? So i was allowing for a bit for filter and stuff.

was actually thinking bang 5l in it mark the stick and then start it and refil to the 5l mark.
Oil cooler doesnt really drain back much i wouldnt think.

i know the aftermarket oilpan is bigger too

Found this so fuck it ill just put 5.9L in it and pick a tube and stick that suits that much oil in the sump
