oil pressure issues

hey guys,

lately, the oil pressure light on my dash has been coming on every now and again.

it only comes on as i come to a sudden stop... the revs drop to about 600rpm, and as the revs hit their lowest point, the light comes on for a split second then goes off again.

there is plenty of oil in the car, so that isn't the problem.

can anyone think of what might be causing it? it's making me stress!

your oil pressure down at that rev would be approx 1 bar or less!

i know with mine (i had a ported oil filter housing) i get at 1000rpm around 1 - 2 bar of oil pressure...

not sure when the light turns on...
what the oil pressure sensor is meant to light up at..

anyway, at 600 rpm... i dont think you have anything to worry about...
if it occurs up higher in the rev range.., then u have a problem..

cant you keep the idle up higher?

rule of thumb, for every 1000rpm, the oil pressure should be 10 psi
so at 7000 rpm, it should be 70psi...
vr4's usually go higher, approx 100psi stock..

iv got an oil pressure guage & i see up to around 110psi max when up to temp

anyway, at 600 rpm... i dont think you have anything to worry about...
if it occurs up higher in the rev range.., then u have a problem..

that's when my oil light came on baz.. so that wasn't the cause of my engine failing?..

i believe 4g63's run

25psi at idle
75psi up at 5000rpm

the removal of balance shafts will increase oil pressures
thicker oils will increase oil pressures
bearing issues will decrease oil pressures
hotter oils will decrease oil pressures
cold oil will increase oil pressure

at 600rpm, oil pressure would almost completely drop off, why is it dropping down that low anyway???? it would almost be stalling...

4g63 idle would be between 750-1100rpm, 600 would be to low, my oil press guage says just sheit of 1 bar at idle (800rpm), 3.5 bar at 3000rpm (fwy driving) and 6.5 bar at 7500rpm......
