I got all excited and decided to get some big boy's lego going on. Early stuff, crank, rods and pistons in and torqued and of course the thing that makes all 4g63s go better, a paint job
I went with duplicolour black, the one with ceramic in it  supposedly to dessipate heat better or whatever, pfft it's black, the international colour of "when it leaks I won't notice"
I'm will check the rvr head and see if it is any better than mine, I have seal issues, i.e. diesel leaks from the valves with the inverted head leak test, tried to reseat and it looks like the valves or seats are out of round, I'm no expert but the valves are grooved only on one side and I don't think they are supposed to.
Anyhoo, here are some progress pics

Regards, B.

hey b,
Yep, when you lap your valves you need a fresh grind mark all the way around the valve face. this shows full valve seal. you can buy lapping compound/paste from repco or similar.
Also, good to see you are checking the seal with diesel, but i use kerosene as it works better at finding leaks. you can even use it to find cracked bores or water jackets.

seems like you have some bent valves. maybe just swap the bent ones out of your head

Right on the money Jack, valves are Mcstuffed. I went to Pauls cylinder heads, Maryborough to get him to have a look at the head and valves, and got the stuffed report. On the upside he gave me some pointers for porting as well as a workshop tour.
With my new found knowlege I stopped by bunnings and picked up a dremel and some bits and got cracking, slowly and I mean slowly. I finished 1 port in 2 hrs or so, this is the result.
Before and after.
