Open Gear EVO

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

looks pretty awesome man, very simple and clean look imagine it had the correct mods this thing will fly quicker than most of our rvrs

Honestly, its different and rare I'll give it that, but the whole 2-tone look and convertible chassis just doesnt do it for me.
Maybe if it were all one colour at least it would look a lot better

I don't know much about the rvr's but I'm sure I seen one of these on the Gold Coast recently...only reason it caught my eye was it looked shorter and obviously missing the cargo windows.

I've seen a few Open's in person.
The doors are bigger, a crash would mean it's a write off as parts are different.
They're prone to rust like the Super Sports / Sports Gears so that's another concern... no sliding door either... but they have a folding front seat like in small cars (mirage, excel's, etc)

I like the look of the front bar he's got on it. Not a bad looking car

+1 on the single tone...! a nice set of rims and nice and low and i'd drive one! anyone got time to photoshop it??

Once again- where do you get all this mis-information from?? Prone to rust? Since when??

A guy I knew owned one, had roof rust like the SSG's.
One I looked at for sale, had roof rust.
Same glue there big boy..

Considering they stopped using that glue in Early 1995, and it only effected the darker coloured cars, then can you really feel justified by saying that RVR's are rust prone when only about $15% of them will ever get it?

*EDIT* just looked on trademe (for an example) and there is 1 RVR with roof rust out of 121 cars.....

Notice that RVR is a 94 model? ;)

You're arguing for the sake of arguing mate, it's kind of childish and does nothing more than present you in a negative way. I've said what I said based off my experience, and you're referring to people trying to sell their cars, which most of the time people hide the defects and problems. Not really a level way of countering anything I've said.

Spotted this last week in the back streets of Reservoir.....

RVR "WILD GEAR"

One thing I noticed on it, was that it had a bull bar around the bottom of the rear bumper- might grab a pic when i'm back in the area (hopefully it's still there)

I'm not a fan of the open gear, they just don't look safe, looks like it would fold in half if it was in a crash

Let me get this straight, you think all soft top cars "would fold in half if it was in a crash" dose that include Rolls Royce, Aston Martin, Ford KA, to name just a few, or just this one? what are you basing this astounding piece of engineering expertise on?

My Open Gear, ( I know Wheels crap, changed now) And Yes that is its registration number
