I am currently building a new engine for the lancer and have an E6x here that i was going to fit, but am after peoples opinions first. Like does PnP really mean just that? Is there any great advantage od the haltech over a reflashed stock ecu? Will all the stock lights on the dash work properly with the haltech, like the turbo light?

Depends on how you can get the outputs for the Haltech to work. As per our conversation, I reckon a chipped ECU will best suit your application. You'll keep all your dash lights, cold start, idle and best of all it looks completely standard if you get pulled over.

Also means when it comes time to dyno tune your car, the tuner only has to tweak what's there to suit your cams/injectors etc, instead of programming and tuning the whole running setup into the aftermarket ECU.

For a daily drive - a chipped and tuned stock ECU wins hands down over an aftermarket ECU IMO.

mmmz had both.. for peace of mind id favour the aftermarket ecu as there are soo many more variables and you can fine tune so much more nicer. however a stock ecu will always drive better ie.. cold starts etc...

at the end of the day its really what you want out of the car, ive got a motec in my ix and its fine, cold start is abit of a bitch but everything else im happy with, so many more aux settings then a stocko..

Jon

PS: all my dash lights and all that work including CELS!

ECM link v3 lite, is amazing, only had it fitted for a couple of days, but its infinatly adjustable and works as a stock ecu.

cant got past it, it's almost the cheapest things on the market too...

Are all you guys who are using ECM link tuning yourselves? Or have you got tuners to use it? Just something to consider because not all of us are confident enough to mess with that stuff.

Unless you are referring to cost, why would you say that?

My ECU has cold start, a/c idle up, it runs very very well.

Now compared to a Microtech I had years back I definitely couldn't say the same thing!

Haltech e6x when tuned will drive almost as good as stock and has idle up,cold start, turbo boost controller, which is the good kind using pulse width modulation i.e change the hertz to the solonoid for fine control, but the main problem is that there is no knock control support.

There's horses for courses depending on what mods you have, how far you want to go in future and the limitations of the flashed ECU. The E6X is a base model Haltech ECU and doesnt give as much tuning capabilities as the better E8, E11 and new Platinum series ECU's. At the end of the day it depends on WHO you can get to tune your car with whatever ECU you decide to use. You dont want to drive into a tuner and say "Can you tune XXXXXX?" and the tuner say "What the?". lol :)

The engine will be a 2.3 stroker with forged rods and pistons, BC 272 cams with uprated springs, cam gears and the turbo is still undecided. As far as tuning goes, i was thinkin springy or creatd.

I would speak to Rob @ Creatd! he is ace with a haltech.. actually he is pretty good with most even stock ecu!!!

And with those mods i would go haltech for sure.. if ur car had OBD2 i would go factory ecu but haltech EASILY anyday with that setup in an early CC lancer.

I second Jon's suggestion that you talk to Rob at CREATD. He chipped and tuned my stock ECU and did a great job. The driveability and power was exactly what I wanted.

He's a top bloke too and will do the right thing by you and the car when tuning it.

if you want a more 'motorsport' oriented tune i would go see Paul @ Chasers, he tuned my car and he has been around motorsport way back probably when we were all kids lolz.. he is awesome! top bloke too and prices r very reasonable!
