Ok, a mate of mine has a rb26/30 (3.0 litre bottom end) and has determined that a pair of TD05H-16G (big) has the best available compressor map out of about 6 "paired" turbo options he is looking at upgrading to for the horsepower he is chasing etc etc..

I agree with him, best response, linear climb to max operating boost and holds boost to his chosen max rpm.
want to know more... goooooglee "squirrel performance" there is an awesome calculator and map comparison tool

Problem is ease of fitment to the exhaust manifold he is using.

Ideally we want to change the turbine housings to a garrett style configuration (4 bolt inlet, 5 bolt outlet).

Has anyone performed this modification?

Can it be done?

I know you can buy just the Turbine housings from garrett, I then assume a turbo specialist would be required to machine it to accept the TD05's turbine.

We are serious about making this work and fit for his engine and application, any help would be appreciated. Were researching the shit out of this and if we have success, I will keep this topic going with progress etc..

Ok a reputable turbo repairer/ modifier in Perth is aware of the sizing and configurations of both...

He suggested it cannot be done, only way to use them is change the exhaust manifold and dump to suit the turbo :(

or use an adaptor plate...

always thinking out side the square

Can try talking to Per4manz Turbochargers (93586383) if you haven't already. Sposed to be good.

Sounds interesting! Forced performance make a Subaru bolt on 16g, for wrx's hahah so they are a beast of a turbo the E3 Big 16g's.
Its not on their site atm but they made them.

What about making the manifold Evo flanged as it may be a custom unit anyway? Rather than custom doing exhaust houings.
Can spend the money on something else as the stock exhaust housings are a great match and they turbo is balanced in the hot and cold sides as it is.
Messing with the exhaust housing you want to get right, people get such great results pushing them hard i recon it would be easy to go backwards
