my gsrs' overboosting. ive got a 63 motor in it. 3'' exhaust from the dump and its a td05h. was runiing fine till i put the external gate on it. its a 38mm dpr one. hits 20psi and i havnt hit full throotle yet. tried 2 gauges and they do the same. have looked at other topics on here and they say port the turbo and gate. i had already ported my turbo when i put the gate on it. do i need a bigger gate?

cheers

sounds like its not opening,, hence no psi relief.

do you know what spring you are supposed to have in the gate, maybe it's 1.5 or 2 bar (21-28psi)

i would check that you have the vac lines setup correctly, does the gate have dual ports for vac lines?

Yeah make sure the Vac lines are setup properly.

Bottom port goes to a pre throttlebody pressure source, Ideally off the upper i/c pipe leading up to the throttlebody. Leave the top port open unless you have a boost controller of some sort.

it does open, its running to atmo atm. its got a 1 bar spring. it does have 2 ports and im currently using the lower one. i do have a controller and its connected to the ic piping that leads to the throttle body and another hose goes off a tpiece to the gate.

ive connected the gate directly to the intake pipe and disconnected the boost controller. it peaks at 14psi and then backs off to 10. do i connect the controller to the other port? will be getting a new contoller aswel.

Leave the bottom port connected straight to the pressure source between the i/c and throttle. Mine is setup with the top port going to a pressure source in between the turbo and i/c. I have a Norgren ported relieving regulator controlling boost which is plumbed into this line along with a 12v solenoid hooked up to a simple switch in cabin, (See pic attached). Flicking the switch sets the pressure the reg is set for.

Pretty simple, nice stable boost. Gives a high and low setting, (wastegate spring pressure and what the reg is set at)

thanks mate. this is the sorta setup i was after.

How is your external gate attached? What is the entry angle of the pipe to the gate.

ive got a flange welded on my manifold. still running the stock manifold. the flange is in between the turbo bolts and is only on a 50mm standing pipe. no bends or anything.
