overflow issue

i have a new built 2.3 evo. had to dyno tunes due to new manifold. Has 300ks since new.

Had turbo trouble so would only flow 19psi making 307kw.

I have a new thermostat, A new full size alloy radiator from luxery sports and a 12" fan on there. On dyno i had no overflow bottle but car from what i could see didnt push any coolant out at all.

I went for a drive twice since after tune and 1st time it pushed very minor bit had no overflow bottle then so ( in that time i added a 500ml V can as a overflow ) half filled that with water. I drove it today 30 odd ks and it had overflowed the V can not by much but it did lose some. Car has hit boost cut twice of 30psi which i have been told may have pinged HG. Oil seems fine, temp gauge stays well below half etc

Could it be as simple as a raditor cap fail? Or overflow to small?

if you have a recovery type cap with no overflow it will let some water out when it reaches temp, but with a proper bottle
it can suck it back in,

The cap came with the radiator ( No doubt a Chinese cap ) ? I have added a 1.5L coke bottle as temporary overflow and quarter filled it.

I had a similar issue an I tried a new radiator cap and it ended up being resolved by a re-tension of the head.

Yea, they say monotorque but I retention anyway.

Your cap should suck the overflow back up, factory overflow bottles I'm sure have more than 300 odd ml between full and add tho.

Just monitor it, 2litres is too much to loose. Probably 600-700ml is ok?
But as above, the cap should recover the correct amount.
If you remove cap when engine has cooled, it should be full

I filled the 1.5 coke bottle up quater with water and ran it up to temp letting thermo open, At first it blew quite bit air and residue into the overflow then once got warm it stopped.

After i turned it off it pumped couple 100mls in the bottle, Ill see if it has drawed it back tomorrow.

head gasket let go on number 1. gasket is what looks to be 4 layer 63-347 any one know details on this? Also im after a thinner gasket from .5 to 1.0mm msl. Does any have a part number?/s

Lol where did the head gasket go ? Between the cylinder in the channel ? Put up a pic if you still got it

on number 1 not between cylinders but pushed out towards exh manifold.
