Hey all, car is about readcy for paint, want to do it myself as a pro job will see it gettign scratched and me crying this way i dont cringe :)
Wondering what durable paint could be used for both, i heard chassis paint is very durable but need something rock solid for both cage and floor as they will cop a pounding getting in and out of car.

Thanks
Dave

ehhh... i dunno that any paint would really handle wear and tear like that. An enamel, or hammer coating might do it but.

Not sure about paint choice Dave but a bit of carbon wrap or heavy vinyl around the intrusion bars saves wear on the cage from getting in and out of the car and dings from the harness buckle...plus it looks trick :)

yep, I have contact over my intrusion bars.
If your asking a lightish grey is the best colour to paint the inside. shows things you drop and
any cracks etc... very easily

I pressure packed mine and the finisih is pretty average, I think the only saving grace is that
I primed it properly beforehand

my mate swears by this stuff. por-15. same guys that do the tank repair kits. and i think there some members here that have used this for roof repairs.
my mate colourcoded his plastic steering wheel (hr holden) to his car paint colour and he uses it most days and the steering wheel still is good after 5ish years!
it is not hammer finish but smooth.

Are you worried about weight? painting the entire floor and roll cage could add 5kg to your weight.
I guess just don't eat pizza the night before racing?

hammertone is an enemal based paint and thin it down with turps or enemal thinners. do not use acrylic thinners to thin it down. enemal is hard to paint, make sure u let it dry before u put the next coat on. keep everything else around the area covered as that shit floats and sticks likes shit on a blanket. wear long cloths and a mask or u will be coughing up the colour for hours.
2 pac is pritty much the same, but better finish. it doesent matter what u paint it in, where ever u get in and out the paint will wear off.
big dollar difference between 2 pac and enemal.
hope that helps

Thanks Guys, got the Hammer Tone paint today i think the cage is going to look great very dark charcoal (almost all the cage will be padded so should be good enough) the floor is getting etch primed then painted with chassis gloss black apparently very durable and rust reistant.

Ill take a couple of pics when complete,

Many thanks

We used POR15 in our Project car and it came up a treat. Brushed on, but leaves no brush marks.

You can get this paint, its called kps. Durable and flexible, seals any metal, self levelling so u can brush it or spray it. But yeah impressive stuff, they showed a brushed on sample, hit it witha hammer and it doesn t chip it bends wit the metal. Your looking at 60 bucks a litre plus the clean and prep 25 bucks a litre. 2 litres would shit it in. Any automotive paint supplier should stock it, or google it.
