hey all I have an evo 1 and what I have been experiencing is the passenger front tire is rubbing the base of the strut that holds the spring, I do not have a coilover set, its a matched set of tanabe springs with tanabe sustec stuts, that look like stock OEM struts. My rim and tire setup is 16 x 7 with offset 45 and 205/55/16. all corners on the car are fine except the side passenger side with all the rubbing and knocking sound.

In addition I still get a knocking sound from that corner when going over bumps, or accelerating or decelerating, any ideas what I need to look into?

I've looked into somethings like ball joints bushings, etc. and the seem alright....I've also gone ahead and ordered some front and rear bushings for the lower control arm to see if that helps.

In addition if the car is off and i move/turn the steering wheel from side to side, i hear a knocking sound, is something loose? like the rack and pinion perhaps? is why I hear knocking comming from the passenger side?

lastly the sway bar on the passenger side doesn't look like it seats well on the bushings it looks to be lifted a bit off the poly bushings is this normal? the driver side seats perfectly fine on the bushings though.

I'd say you'd have to pull the wheels off and run over all the suspension parts.

I'm sure with a few strong shakes of each part you'll find something loose.

If its only on one side you can probably rule out tires.
The offset and tyre dimensions seem to be ok,
as Baz said, something suspension related is not right.

i currently run 205 55 16s for both street and track and dont have a problem with any rubbing at all...

Sounds like the camber is wrong. maybe the two big bolts that hold the strut to the hub are loose.....
