Hey guys,
I bought a GSR about 3 years ago after wanting one for at least 10 years - but it's been in storage for most of that time due to it's on again off again nature.
Now I finally have some time I have decided that instead of fixing things here and there - it'd be best to take the car back to a bare shell and build it up with everything new (maybe change the colour but nothing gay), so this forum is going to become invaluable and I hope I can get in touch with other early Lancer owners in Perth to find out more along the way.
Also if anyone knows anything about this car i'd love to hear about it, from what I can gather it was built by some place in Albany called 'Guru racing' for some kind of tarmac rally purpose as there were 'collie motorsport complex' passes in the boot - it was then sold to someone who let it get to the state it's in (and filled it full of cheap chinese rubbish parts which are now in the bin) and now to me who will do it properly (and then some).
Some of the winner things that has happened along the way
I have been informed that when removing the air con, a spacer is needed to stop the driveshaft going for a walk (which happened obviously)
I already knew about this issue from a mate in Sydney (Steve with the '4G63' numberplates on his insane GSR) so no big deal, i'll just add a new roof to the list.
big crack thanks to that mitsubishi bounce between gear changes
I would also like to point out it takes no mechanical knowledge to strip a car to a bare shell so I am having lots of fun.
That's about it for now, each day is a chance to pull another bit off the car (doors and roof came off today)
