Ok, help required please. Anyone....

I have a 97 RVR HSGR Manual that has decided that I don't actually need a gearbox to drive.
I originally thought that maybe the clutch had gone but have had it at a mechanic and found that the synchros are gone in second, bearings are shot and the list goes on and on.
The mechanic had said to me that his "gearbox" man said that these "EVO gearboxes can run up tp 5k to rebuild :fuuuuu: .
I simply cannot afford that at all..... I told the mechanic that the gearbox is not from an EVO and they are different. I have lost faith in whoever he is going through because I gave them the gearbox code as it is and, well, I would think that a gearbox rebuilder of reputation would figure out a quote based on that.Maybe I am wrong...
The car and box are located in Gympie (QLD), and was wondering if anyone can help me out as to where I could locate another gearbox (Rolins Automotive has one but is not going to work in mine as the mounting brackets are wrong) or at least someone who knows these gearboxes well enough to rebuild it for me. Please?
This is my daily drive (I know, bad mistake hey) and has been off the road for a couple of weeks already. Doing my head in.....
The gearbox code is W5M332UMGL.

Thanks is advance if you can help in any way.
Cheers.

Is Mr transmission based in qld? Thanks for the idea in regards to pricing as well. I thought the price quoted was a little silly. Where did yours get rebuilt?
Thanks guys.

Had mine rebuilt a couple of years back $1400 Newcastle Gearbox & Diff
I had NG&D rape me $70-$75 to pull one bearing off a shaft once (it would have taken tyhem 5 mins work a couple years or so back). Then when I went to pick up the parts the guy removed it from the shelf and practically might as well of slammed it onto his stainless steel counter before I paid for it. Got it home and discovered several teeth were chipped off my gears and shaft as a result of their professionalism. Those guys have a bad rep in town and I wouldnt trust them as far as I can stick an input shaft up their asses. I was warned about them beforehand but had no choice. In the end, that experience is what drove me to DIY. You might have had a much more pleasant experience though :)

Cheers David, I'll get onto them in the morning. Was pricing good for you and what ride was that for?
EVO X, I actually heard a few stories about them in similar tones, that sucks mate.
