THE SOUTH EASTERN RACING ASSOC. IS HOLDING A MEETING AT THE TOORADIN AIRFIELD AT 7.00PM SEPT 5TH TO RAISE SUPPORT FOR A LEGAL DRAG STRIP IN OUR AREA. YOUR ATTENDANCE WOULD BE APPRECIATED. FORWARD THIS MSG TOO YOUR MATES.

Tooradin
Small township on Sawtell Inlet
Tooradin is a small and picturesque holiday town of some 600 people located 64 km south-east of Melbourne on the South Gippsland Highway. It is situated on the reclaimed swampland of Sawtell Creek Inlet at the northern tip of Westernport Bay. Consequently it provides safe anchorage for fishing boats and is popular with both day-fishers and holiday-makers. Camping is accommodated at the local caravan park and swimming is also popular on the calm waters of the bay.

The town's name is an Aboriginal term for a monster which the local Aborigines reputedly believed resided in a waterhole at this location.

Thats all good for those of us that live on that side of the city, but for those of us that don't like sitting in traffic for the better portion of there friday night this could be a good alternative.

Exactly, thats why it should be on a wed night, like WSID

We DONT want to watch shitboxes doing burnouts, police cars and drags cars racing at a street car meet on a friday night!

We want more than 2 runs in 4 hours, for our $40!

Bob Jane, DOWN THE DRAIN!!!!

i hear you Dre, does Bob Jane run Heathcote?? Coz from what i can gather is that it is the mob that run heathcote that are pushing for Tooradin. The only way Bob will see is if he comes out on a Friday night and no one is there!!!!

ill be down there tomorrow night, who else is going?

baz said he'd go too.

wanna meet somewhere along the way alex?

think bob jane runs calder.

i would be down to go as im only in berwick but i work in the city by the time 7pm hits i will be in traffic.

i will honk for support!.

cant we just sign something in support of it?

thats what I was thinking......

and yes, Bob Jane owns/runs calder, and has the say in all of it.

he also owned/runs AIR, which he shut down.

somone correct me if i'm wrong.

last night was a pretty amazing turnout...

the main dudes (i think they were from south eastern car club) were only expecting up to 20 people to discuss their plans for the track.

there ended up being probably about 600 people!!!!

the deal is that a car club has to be set up with a cams licence... membership forms will be handed out next wednesday at 7pm along with a petition to sign in regard to setting up racing at either Sandown or a new track at Tooradin.

so if you're sick of going all the way to the shit facilities at Calder, turn up next Wednesday at 7pm - Tooradin Airport, just past Cranbourne on the South Gipsland Highway.

The restaurant there makes great parmas too!

NAh in order to get the track they have stated that we need to form a new club. These guys seem as if they want to give it a good go. The dude that is organising it all works at Sandown and has said that the reason Sandown doesn't open on like a fri or sat night is that they don't think anyone will go there!!!

i was told that its more due to resident complaints of noise.

they are already having issues with easternats and all the v8 supercars.

The guy organising it, Rick, has employed a solicitor to work on the case.

Race tracks have a duty of care to the public, so if somebody dies or is injured racing on the street outside a racetrack, the racetrack is liable.

I think they were considering forcing Sandown to open for off street racing as a duty of care type thing.

Anyway, get your asses down there on Wednesday, it's not that far! It took me 40 minutes to get home from the airport to Oakleigh last night.

Might be nice to catch up with a few guys for some dinner and a drink after the meeting is over too. :)

YES!! the parma was good and the beer was cold!!! The jet van getting up and down the run way wasn't to bad either!!!! :D

Fingers crossd, the turn out will be even bigger next wednesday!! was good to see matty and alex down there. I hope to see some of you guys down there. JOIN THE CAUSE
oh and the parma was the shit yo. best in town.
Daniel
