I currently have an HKS pod on my EVO 1 and am looking at changing it to something else....

I bought a Simota 3" pod and lancer adapter, but silly me- I didn't measure the overall length of the filter and it fouls on the fuse box :fuuuuu:

Just wondering what others are using- if I can't get something half decent i'm going to go back to stock with K&N panel....

I have a huge mother fucker K & N pod filter on mine that fits no worries, the Apexi ones with the little sheild seem to fit pretty good also, there was one of them on the 1/2 cut I got.

Ive got the std air box.....with some higher flow mods.....bloody big hole cut into it were the std snout went. air filter is K&N. looks kinda standard ...some cops over here arent as well educated on the fitting requirements of pods

I have a standard air box with a HKS panel filter (replacable filter), dunno how it flows yet lol

I have a K&N in box filter. I removed my pod and adapater.

Got my filter for $5 from the wreckers :)

Apexi pod, with metal shield. The kit actually bolts up (and brackets fit!) very unusual for "bolt on kits" :)

on my old gsr i started off with a filter adapter and pod filter in the stock location. but i made sure i bought the shortest k&n pod so it fit in with the fuse box there. then after a couple of defects i got over it and put in the stock airbox with a blitz panel filter from here:

pictures wrong, but if you order it they send the correct one

I'm thinking about just going back to the stock box with panel- will make life alot easier!

In you opinion do you recon the flow is much worse with the stock setup and a k&n panel compared to the dejon tool intake and a pod you had in another car. Noticable difference?

Ah yeah there'd be a huge difference- the stock intake with those crazy bends and ribs etc wouldn't flow nowhere near as much as a dejon intake!

What about possibly relocating the battery back to where the stock air box is. I know its an evo but im doing this in my vr4. Sure ive seen pics of it done on an evo or gsr.

Im putting a battery tray on the stock mounts for the airbox then making up another mount for the outer side.

And to deal with the higher position using a din53lmf or din53rmf battery as they are only 175mm tall rather than 210-220 of the standard battery. (They are $160-200 and have the same cranking amps, just lower) So its the same clearance to the bonnet as stock.

That way you dont have to relocate to the boot. But you loose the extra space i guess.

I thought about relocating the intake etc but to be honest its a bit too much fucking around for a car that I want to keep looking relatively stock under the bonnet

Fair enough. Why not ask a shop to look though the k&n catalogue, theres hundres of differnt sizes listed. Should be able to get something shorter, and go a fat oval shape to make up for it.

shadow: did you run an apexi filter on your 234kw setup?

in my experience, the apexi was a barely noticable difference from a panel filter and was a massive restriction.. stick with the hks mushroom.
