Yesterday I had a ported rxhausted manifold fitted and had my turbo port matched inlet and outlet port matched, by Benzo 4g63, as well. The results are nothing short of phenomenal really, where I was waiting for the boost to build I have throttle response of a 4litre engine and at times where I had nothing I had at least 10psi...... If you have thoughts of porting, please speak to benny, he is a genius. Thanks mate.

Awesome result Ian. That sounds like a pretty magical turnout for a bit of porting.
What'd you do to it Benny?

I just ported out the fire ring lip and blended, adjusted shape in the right spots and finished with 120 flap wheel.

The manifold is another story, I put a fair bit of time and thought into it, (did it a while back) I fabricated some extra bits for the job so I could do it how I wanted. I spent a lot of time on transitions and making it smooth, the way I

figure is the smoother it is the less carbon build up. I filled up a bit more than 1/2 of a degreaser can cap of metal I took out of the manifold.

I think the stock manifolds are very under rated, there are a lot of places to adjust shape and size in the runners and collector area. A bit of a reshape on the start of the runners as well

Sounds awesome, but where are the pictures? :)
Edit: Forgot to mention, the pics of the manifold are from a while back before I had finished it, but you get the idea

Yeh, sorry lumpy. We probably should have took pics as we went but felt we were fairly time poor as it was.... Mo, man you wouldn't believe the difference, its just like the engine grew at least300cc. I realise it sounds silly, but it is true. Very happy man indeed!!!!

I'm so glad it made a difference, I think I would have cried if it didn't lol.

As soon as you started it and noticed a different sound at idle I knew something good had happened.

Just feels like a very happy engine now. I might boost it up to 16-17 on my way home from work this arvo and see how manic she is, woo hoo!!!!!

Come to think of it Tim, I'm actually not certain. I thought it was slotted in for first Wednesday of july???? Have to look through old posts....

Not trying to suss me out before the drags are we Mike? ;)
Just the 510cc injectors, standard pump, boost controller and one hell of a port job Mike.
Still running rich under full boost at 17psi at moment mate.

Ok, feedback time.
Gave it a squirt this morning at 16psi, have to be quick within the left hand in 1st gear now. 1st and 2nd gear don't build boost, its just there and a little bit manic. Really cool the difference.

For sure benny, will do. Hopefully we can get a lot done on the beast as well!!!! Can't wait to get stuck in. Keep driving the dualis and you may end up lactating and smelling like a vagina, LOL.

I hate to disappoint you and I certainly do not want to bash Benny's fine port work, but whatever you are feeling is NOT a result of porting. I have ported 30-40 of these manifolds over the 17-18 years I have been in DSM modding business and I never saw anyone "feel" the results if such porting. Bare in mind that most of my customers were running 20-30 psi (1.3-2 bar) and were MORE likely to benefit from such porting, as they were closer to maximizing manifold's capacity.

At best, you are getting 3-5% of power increase (more likely 1-2% at only 10 psi) while you need at least 10% to actually "feel the extra power by the seat of your pants".

More likely, you had an exhaust leak before the turbo, which was coincidently repaired when you swapped parts and/or gaskets. Such repairs do yield very notisable results.

Definitely possible that I only achieved limited power gains and don't worry I don't take offense easily.
Although the power increase may be minimal, its the fact that the boost comes in much lower than previous that was the eye opener for me. I have had other 4g63 engines and am used to the lag, but this really does boost earlier. sine would be attributed to new gaskets for sure but I do believe that the porting did give a benefit. As small as it may be.
Appreciate your input Leon, cheers mate.

I'd go with Leon on this.
Had exhaust manifold gasket leak number 1 cylinder boust came on later and would only make 16lbs.
Changed gasket back to 19lbs and boust all good.
It sounded like a supercharge whistle when pushed.
