Funny that hey but a said other forum have private sections and guess what they can and do discuss behind their own closed doors issue's at hand. Its what its there for! why not keep it if you only knew what was writen on other private sections our section is tane as and we are very mild compared I know as I have access.
Maybe the difference is here that the private section has too many members in it to make it effective for its sole purpose??

We can too, but thats not what we're about.
Any issues needing to be discussed will be handled for by the mods and admins, and at this stage our forum isnt large enough to have a seperate private forum with senior members to discuss different more important issues.
We have no rivalry with the mentioned forum, and we feel as though the private section promotes such rivalry, whereas, once again, thats not what we're about.
Dont get me wrong, it does serve its purpose, but we feel as though the private section isnt living up to its potential.

Having said the above. What does everyone else think? Happy for your feedback.

That's pretty much the current plan. I know the concerns about your cars and the police, thieves, etc, so I can understand the need to have the private rides, and obviously some events you want to keep private too.

On the topic of the private members rides section though, if anyone has a thread in private and would like to post up a less specific thread in the public section, I'd be happy to see it happen. Some of our best cars are in the private section. It would be nice to be able to show off a little bit!

Can you mods/admin show me where all of this bitching goes on? I have copied the thread titles from the first page of the general section and can only pick out one thread where there may be some slandering of another forum? Ok I also realise that a thread had been deleted - but other than that, 90% of the below threads are actually beneficial and purposeful in a private forum.

Hey jase, I didn't say I had a problem with it. I said it wasn't a decision I would've made. Back in the day I used to take advice from the mods/admins as a whole and work generally according to the highest vote.

I know where you guys are coming from, I still have copies of lots of the hatemail that I received before the handover. You won't be getting any stress from me, I just hope you guys still abide by my old "No delete" policy. Move the posts to the Archive forums if you don't want to move them into the public ones. Please?

Very valid points Deano and sounds like a good move to me.
No doubt the private section does have merit for some posts that are felt to be of a sensitive nature and not suitable for public viewing, the proposal of removing it and making the forum a more open site sounds like a great direction for Team4g to be heading in:thumbsup:
I also would not object to my ride thread to be moved to the public section but can totally understand the reasoning to keep a private rides thread.

We move a lot of posts. They aren't visible to the public for good reason.

Don't worry - we won't be moving anyone's private rides thread. I respect the reasons for wanting to keep your cars hidden from prying eyes (theft, Police, EPA, etc).
