and the story goes.....
had my engine rebuilt and they put it back in the car and got it started.
they had it running for 2 hours and then they went to go take it on a test drive and to embedd the rings.
as soon as they got it out the door, the engine stopped.
tried to start it again but had no spark. and when you push the immobiliser alarm button the ignition lights werent turning on in the dash.
the mechanics then took ouyt the alarm and the turbo timer and wired the igition wires all back up and it still didnt start.
they thought it was the computer and they got a dummy one sent down and connected that today.
and it didnt start so he went over the engine bay and stuff with a tester light and found out it has:
-no spark
-no check engine light and oil pressure light at start
-no injector pulse.
hes tried ringin few places in adelaide with no success so just just seeing if anyone would have an idea of wat is wrong or had it happen to them before.
cheers
dan

Adelaide? -> Mike Dale is the man. Search his username, it's "blackvr". He's a very helpful man.
Good luck. :)

I was thinking the same thing Rob. I had mine on the dyno within the first 10 minutes of its running life.

People I trust have always told me:
Fire it up
Check for leaks etc while it warms up
As soon as it is up to operating temp, load it up at varying revs with low boost but be careful that it doesn't get too hot due to the extra friction.
If chrome rings aren't bed in by the first 50kms, they will never bed in as there will be no honing left on the bores.

Rob, seriously, all the knowledge you have about these cars..
Get another VR4!
Or I'll borrow those boots off Troy and use them on you! :p

What are stock Mitsubishi rings made of? I could still see hone marks when I had the head off my 180,000km motor.

Totally agree about running it in asap though.

Every motor ive rebuilt i have seen the hone marks but the bores are smooth so the honeing is technically worn off by those kms.
as said previously for the average person to run a motor in you get it going check for leaks then go for a drive and load up the motor a few times to bed the rings in but dont rev it out.

sorry its been a while but the mechanic has been sick
hes had a look and after been on the phone to mike and got his help,
found out that one of the fusible links had gone in the galant ( which mike said to me before the mechanic had a look)
