Kmac, http://www.k-mac.com.au/ win awards for these frikken camber tops but I cant find any installation instructions anywhere on how to fit them correctly. The Race version has the letters A, B, C, D on the top of them, but I got no fkn idea on which orientation it is to go or whether its left or right.

The struts are currently out of my car, its booked in for a wheel alignment at 8am tomorrow morning, and need to get this sorted tonight.

Turbulent, if you are out there mate, what orientation do they go in?

rob,

you want them orientated so that they can be pulled in towards the motor and back towards the firewall if that makes sense.

thats if you want more neg camber anyway. but a little castor is always good.

Like this camber / castor

Thanks guys. Yeah problem with these ones is that they are adjustable everywhere. Its not so plain black and white in a straight line like as shown with the pics of the KSports.

Both sides are different and there's no markings for left or right. We installed them so that when standing in front of the car the words KMAC in the centre of the silver area are facing you. It definitely is installed to allow the most movement in toward the engine, but have to recheck if it also allows for most movement toward the back of the firewall.

Going for a wheel alignment soon so will also speak to the guys there. First thing I did this morning is send KMac an email about the lack of instructions or photographs on their website showing how their new frikken camber tops are to be installed.

just out of intrest how much did you pick them up for? i need to get some soon and im currently looking at differnt options and prices.

cheers

I picked them up from Turbulent. I think he paid a little over $400 the pair and didnt need them anymore after he got a new set of coilovers with camber tops built in.

The guy at the wheel aligners said he hasnt seen these new Kmac tops before but had a squiz and said they look to be installed correctly. Loosened the top two nuts a little bit, stuck a wedge in the top and with a few light blows of the mallet set up -1 degree camber and about 3' castor easy. The 215 tyres fit inside the coupe guards now

Yeah theyre not the conventional design of coil tops we're accustomed to eh. The car also still has the Whiteline caster bushes underneath on the lower control arms. Thats probably why it might not look like much castor in the strut top.

the way that looks setup it actully has had some castor removed. the beauty of adjusting the castor on the top is that the wheel doesnt move in the wheel arch.

believe it or not imy tops are kmacs too, they were just never finished off properly

Yep you're right George it wouldnt show as much as yours as yours is an EVO II/III suspension setup so it comes stock with 3'55' castor :)

Mine is GSR/EVO1 front end so stock its only 2'10' caster and I had it increased to 3' to see how it goes.

im out of town for a week sorry, woulda got back to you sooner with more details how to get them in if i had the access ><

looks to be all sorted now thouugh

i think i put black marking pen in the notches where mine was adjusted to when i pulled them out incase i re used them at some point

lol... yeah Im way beyond your black marker points :w00t: its almost like a figure 8 mark now

Yeah I wasnt thinking straight on the day George :w00t:. We looked at Whiteline's suggested -1.25' camber and + 3.5' castor ('touring handling' specs ) and I asked him to tone it down just a little til I get a feel for the car. I ended up getting -1' camber and +3' castor. Looking back now I should have said 'go for it' but I can always go back and get it adjusted later. I think I'm on a first name basis with the boys down there now as I've had 3 wheel alignments in as many months it seems :)

You said yours were the same tops. Have you got any pics of them setup in your car? and if so what have they been set at? :)

mine were never finished properly and have no markings like yours at all.

they are a roughed out top, that doesnt have the nice finish like yours

Oh I think I know what you are getting at now George. [slaps forehead]

As my car has the Whiteline 3.5' castor bushes underneath, if the centre of the strut were in stock position it would have 3.5 castor. But as we only ended up with 3' castor the strut top would actually show less castor on it than the stock position. That's what you were talking about eh?

correct rob. you have heaps of room to lay that baby back.

i think i posted before but being able to adjust at the top like that will keep the wheel in the same spot (in the arch) while increasing castor.
