hey guys
im planning on purchasing some R/C cars!

anybody else know anything about them?

ill start with a 1hp motor..
they look like fun!

$600 average cost to start up

anybody wanna join?

...

I used to have 3-4 of them. Upkeep costs are relatively high, in that it'll cost you about 600 for the car & remote, a good remote is more. Add glowpack starters and the other "generic" maitenance kit and you're up around 900. fuel is relatively expensive, and from 4 litres of fuel you'll get about... 80 minutes of runtime or so? They are not efficient. But they go DAMNED FAST.

PS. Prepare to crash it far more than once. Some of the cars have unpredictable suspension and very very very unpredictable gearing. If you can, get a "soft" road version like the evo8 shelled "offroaders" with higher suspension and dirt tires. This will allow you to practice on a cricket oval or something else relatively flat grass... keeps your car alive till you get the hang of it.

Tarmac tired cars wear through tires at an amazing rate, bitumen is not nice to them. Don't even think about taking the tarmac tired ones off road, you don't get any traction at all, it's like jacking your car up and accelerating to top gear. Pointless really :)

I'd get back into it, but you're on the other side of melbs :p Awesome fun.

Check with Chris (Djb), I think he's either into these or looking at it.

im thinking of getting a
KYOSHO V-ONE-S.
but looking to transplant another motor into it

something like a GX21 or NOVAROSSI CX12 engine

any recommendations??
i know im gonna crash the shit out of mine..

they are so sensitive and fast..
i dont know how people would drive em on a track!

Recommendation:

GO WITH SOMETHING SLOW TO BEGIN WITH.

The idea is to get a powerful motor, but seriosuly, start with the basic one until you get used to it.

These things do 0-100 in the blink of an eye. The modelling guru dude down here has one with a 2 speed (or 3??) transmission that can literally do 150+kmh.

I know 0.5hp sounds like bugger all. But consider these cars generally weigh about -1- kg. Go with stock until you break it. THEN upgrade.

And you WILL break it.

 i want 1 of those, might have to try my mini truck in RWD instead ow AWD mode (on dirt of cause)

"some of those chicks up top dont look half bad either ;) lol"

lol
old i know..
but still fun!..

I JUST PURCHASED ONE!!

who's gonna be next??

and jase, what happened to our GT4 battle online?

yeah.. i've got some fairly extensive networking to do in my house before that's going to happen

got some wicked shit tho! cisco ip phones, linksys ap's, routers and shit

yeah ive ownded them and raced them

My first car was a gs storm pro. 1/8th scale buggy
ITs currently up for sale actually! $550
Rossi .21 Race engine 40000rpm, 3 hp (3.3kg buggy), carbon components, Upgraded DIffs front centre and rear.
fm Digital radio Etc....worth over $1500 hardly used

Then I wanted to race onroad aswell and purchased a gs Vision sport kit then a novarossi .12 race spec motor...., i must say they are too quick!

But im keeping it because its always fun on a sunday arvo, offroad is just to expensive to maintain for me hehe ill host some pics of em later

novarossi .12.. i've got that engine in the one i just bought..
v one s car..

did u ever do any races rx2?

I raced on road electric...

I had the 1st HPI RS4 Rally... Bitchin it was, but ran out of money and time....Time mainly. Would love to give it another crack but I'm currently got money going into my guitars to get them back up to scratch and sinking money into my next project car...... Does sound pretty cool Baz. Love to check it out one day. You will probably gear it out pretty quick. I would get a 2speed tranny for it, they are tricky to tune but they sound awesome when they change gear at 30K+ rpms.....

Well,

The only the thing I think of now is having your car decked out with a full race ball bearing setup.... Good servos make a huge difference on a Gas car too so make sure they are up to scratch.... Get out there and have a ball... Gas cars rule... I love the sound and the smell....

Yeah i got 1, 1.5 HP motor, heaps of aftermarket upgrades, suspension and motor. Stacks are great but expensive. Good joint in Dandy called "the hobby man". Bought my car 2nd hand but almost new with heaps of upgrades for $300 with radio gear. Worth about $800.
