i was driving today and i smelt a really strong smell. i pulled over and realised it was coming from my rear right brakes. the brakes have clamped onto the rotor and havn't been released. I took the car home and jacked it up. The only thing that was out of place was that the little pin that holds the spring had come out of place so i placed the pin back in and pushed the spring back. i also pushed the piston back in. while the car is on jackstands i pull the handbrakes and my rear right wheel can still spin. Ive looked at all my brakes lines and handbrakes lines. im a little confused with what my problem could be. any input would be much appreciated
Regards

You're driving a GSR right?

The spring on the rear calipers is only for the handbrake setup. Whilst the car is (safely) jacked up, you should get a friend to push on the brake pedal and then try to turn the wheel. If it still turns then you may have a problem.

The rear brake pistons shouldn't be able to be pushed back into the caliper - they are on a screw thread and need to be wound in, so if that's the case with yours, and you suspect something even remotely might be wrong with your brakes - please don't beat around with safety and take it to somebody who can properly fix it.

yes it is a gsr. i did wind the piston in not push sorry. i definately dont wanna stuff around with something in that area. i was just asking to see weither if anyone else has encountered this problem.

How fucked are the pads?
If you have wound a piston back, I recomend you slacken off the handbrake cable, wind them both back and pump the brake pedal to reset the calipers handbrake adjustment, then tighten the cable inside the car to suit 5-7 clicks. make sure you dont pull the handbrake up untill you have pumped the calipers out as you can fuck it up, after you have reset it all properly recheck both wheels are locked when the handbrake is applied.

the pads have plenty of beef left. ok i will push both pistons tomorrow and try reset my handbrake cable. thanks for the advice richard. will let you know how i go
