Hey guys,

I have been lurking on here the last few weeks as I wait to pick up my HSG this Sunday. Just wondering if you guys mostly use a fully recirculating bov or prefer to vent to atmostphere?

I think the whooshh noise is highly irritating but was just interested in what set ups others are running?

Cheers, Mike

I've gone recirc on the Evo and blocked off completely on my gsr (let the hate start)
with recirc its putting air already measured through the afm back in the system without stalling or surging ya turbo
recirc will probably be the most favoured too due to the fact it keeps air flowing the right way through ya system and keeps fuel mix the same

Can I hijack your thread t ask a related question........

Is there a formula or theory to determine a minimum size BOV (of either type) for a particular application? Not something I've ever seen mentioned.

recirc for sure , ive got the turbosmart kompact and with decent psi its still gives off a fairly loud noise that i think sounds much nicer then a venting bov

I just bought a T'S kompact, awaiting for it to arrive, the T'S type 2 atmos that I've got atm causes problems all the time, it's terrible. Definitely go the recirculating type, you will have a happy motor with better response on throttle after coming off throttle cause your revs aren't 1-200 rpm and sometimes stalling.

I use an evo 8 valve on some of my cars....but am looking for en evo 10 as the nipple points in a better direction.

these look stockish so no prob for officer Dibble and they are able to handle more boost than the stockers. usually about 100 on evo oz

Yeah Ive got the Evo X one looks stock and no one could tell otherwise unless they actually know about the car. Id say recirc as its stealthier and the cars already setup that way.. this has been covered a few times im sure there is another couple posts on this topic.

Check out gumtree west oz im sure i saw an evo x being parted out on there a couple weeks ago , driveline and other parts for sale might have a bov for you

I just fitted a "Dual Port" TurboSmart BOV on the weekend, vents and recirculates... Comes with a bung so that you can plug off the vent as well if you prefer it that way. Seems to work well when adjusted well. Aprox $240 from Autobarn but I am certain you could find it for cheaper. Cheers..

I've gone back to recirc as the engine would drop revs ( sometimes stalling ) when coming to stop signs or with the air con on. With the recirc back on it's fine.

Not sure if anyone else has had this problem.

Im pretty sure thats from over fueling from the messed up maf signal, good to see another 4g in my suburb....

Hey White Knight, did the 34mm fit your piping snug or did you have to clamp it down a bit? My HSG seems to have 38mm piping.
