I've seriously got my eyes on HotBits adjustable coil-overs ($1950,) good choice? I want to get sway bars also, but I'm not sure if I should get front or rear, or both; and what size? Already have front/rear Cusco strut braces. Any opinions or further advice? I'm not building a rally car, honestly the stock setup should do me. But I do really want is just an awesome handling car for everyday use and maybe some track work later on.

Cheers.

PS it's done. :)

a big rear sway bar only, dont worry about the front.(maybe just some front urethane bushes for the bar)

have you thought about upgrading springs and shocks(like king and kyb)
might be better for day to day and they will be less maintenence in the long run too over coil overs.

When you say big, any specific size? I've looked at a few swaybars and they usually come in 22mm 24mm and 26mm yeah? So 26mm would be the go.

I'll definitely consider springs and shocks for sure then. I'm not really in the know for this sort of thing, do I have to look for anything specific? (tension/height wise.) I want it maybe an inch lower.

Also where would be the best place for this stuff? I'm in Melboure. Just through Autobarn or Bursons? Especially want to know where I'd get those urethane bushes.

Ta.

pedders for the bushes,
online performance auto might also be worth a look for that sort of stuff(in hallam)
but ring around for springs and shocks as prices can vary alot.

maybe meek is worth a look too

The 22mm rear sway bar gives a nicely neutral car with very little lift off oversteer. Some people have had lift off oversteer problems with the 26mm bar. If you can get a Whiteline adjustable one, then get it.

I have Race spec Hotbits (with external canisters) and Noltec strut tops. They SHIT ALL OVER the cheap Tein stuff for ride quality. If you want more info on the hotbits, let me know and I'll tell you what I have done to fine tune them on my car.

With the DMS suspension, you have to also add the price of strut tops to that and I think they are rally spec struts so you won't be able to lower your car much from the stock ride height (would pay to check that out if considering them).
Does the price for the Hotbits include the strut tops?
Apparently, Hotbits are now making ones with seperately adjustable bump and rebound! They would be cool.

i got full set of kyb agx shockis from states for about 450 us including postage and i find them really good as you can adjust the stiffenes of them so on soft they are great for street and once u put them into hard mode they are stiff ass so goof for track etc. so with that some nice set of springs and should be good for what u are aming at:)

Hey Dre, cheers for the link. Looks like those would work out more expensive though? $1850 + $175 per spring, $2550! I'll definitely check out Ohlins and Teins for sure then. I actually saw some Teins for sale a little while ago but they were around the $2500 mark also.

I think I might go for the 22mm bar then Rob, the last thing I need is another smash! Not sure if the HotBits' price included strut tops, just waiting to hear back now. And I'd really like to know what you've done with your setup; reckon I'd be better off emulating someone's setup that works well rather than starting blind and tweaking it for ages.

Where'd you order the KYB shocks from mate? Still definitely thinking about Kings and KYB shocks. Just from having a quick look through Google that's looking like a cheaper option --and one with a lot less work involved. Don't want to get in over my head with this. Though with the dollar as it is, might not be worth it now huh. Did you order them long ago?

I'll pop out to Pedders this weekend too Doug.

Cheers guys.

The KYB's are very good, even the shocks for the SE Galant, I used them in the front, they have more travel than the VR4 shock also

I'd put them over the Koni's anyday, hands down.

Alright sweet. King/KYB combo is looking pretty good after pricing. The HotBits coil-overs did not include strut tops. I'm thinking now they'd really be overkill for what I want. I'll grab myself the King springs, KYB shocks, Whiteline 22mm rear sway bar (not the adjustable one, just to save.) Plus the K&N pod and some braided stainless brake lines, and still have some money to spare instead of the HotBits. Better get ordering for those shocks huh!

I'm still interested to hear about your setup if you don't mind Rob.

Thanks again guys, I really do appreciated this place. :)
