Hey guys,

Sort of thinking that because I need to replace my brake master anyway, and because I'm a sucker sometimes... I might possibly maybe want to shove 6pots and 336mm rotors under the front of my car. Which may or may not involve a different master cyl in any case.

Anyone know of any rally workshops or brake places (apart from racebrakes in dandy) who I could talk to about this crazed idea of mine?

Anywhere in vic is fine.

Cheers!

-- EDIT: Will also consider places in Adelaide or surrounding area.

Why not just go 4 pots....4 pots, proper size master, good pads and correct bias and it will be awesome.
6 pots a bit wanky, not needed and a waste of money.

Again, I am looking for places where I can go discuss this with a workshop who can actually make it happen.

4pot, 6pot, 12pot who cares really. I'm not in it for the bling, just want to discuss options with someone who could actually do the work.

Revzone I think have a large range of brakes.

Otherwise, just buy a set or calipers that you like, then get some brackets and custom rotors made to suit.

I think racebrakes will be the only guys that you can call who can engineer brackets and keep it certified

Just go a custom 4pot Brembo setup.
Would cost you alot less in the end, can get a good set for under $1000 these days.

The question isn't what to put on, the question is WHO can put them on.

I will not manufacture my own brackets, I -can-. But I won't. Brakes and suspension are two things I won't fuck with, that's like playing russian roulette.

The questions still hasn't really been answered, I guess I'll have to goto racebrakes in dandy.

(Decent) 6-pots, pads, discs, brackets, lines, fluids- I cant see much change from $5000 there. Like I said- bit of an overkill for an E39A VR4! Don't forget you'll need to go at least twin pot rears, which means you'll have to do the drum handbrake conversion too. Couple more grand there too, especially if you are getting someone to do it all for you!

$7000 on brakes on a street car that cost less than 10k? Come on!

I guess this thread pretty much means that nobody has much of a clue where to go for custom brake upgrades so if/when I find somewhere I'll let you all know.

Also, lol at pricing.

That's another option baz, but there's not a lot listed for the e39a specifically. Any other options bolt straight on? AFAIK e1-3 stuff is the same but requires different lines due to the fittings on the brake hoses?

lol alright.... why do you even need 6-pots? You havent even answered the question!

why dont you get some D2's- why stop at 6-pots when you can have 8-pots? You might save $2500 instead of going real 6-pots like these....

So only Alcon, AP Racing, Willwood and Brembo count?

What about manufacturers like Stoptech, Baer etc?

And I don't specifically want 6-pot's, but I would like to investigate the options? I would pretty much like to find an answer to a question I've been asking myself since 2006 when I had the silver vr4.

And baz, thanks. I'd prefer to stay 4stud as I love my rims, but if I have to convert I will. I was already looking at stoptech calipers as I've seen some interesting reviews on k-sports flexing under load (like stock mitsubishi gto calipers do).

A lot of calipers will have some degree unless you go proper monoblocks which will have very little ad are the best.

but on a majority of vehicles(even race cars) they are a bit of overkill.

how about hoppers stoppers? they seem to do a few bolt on upgrades for
race cars.
