hey just a few questions regarding remote central locking

I think my gsr has factory remote central locking, but from what i have read its not normal for it to have it but i cant find any info to confirm it or not? the funny thing is that i have 2 keys, one to unlock the door and one for the ignition, i just thought this was because the main key must have been worn down and didnt work correctly, but now im not sure?

this is the remote key which is used for ignition only:

the silver key you can see part of is to unlock the doors.

anyway i was going to install an aftermarket central locking kit (that i had laying around) in my car as the button on the key doesnt work but the aftermarket actuator seems a little large to make fit

this is in the way of where the aftermarket actuator needs to go, im guessing this the actuator for the original remote central locking? is that what it is?

so im wondering whether i can connect this to the actuators that are already in the doors so i can use the aftermarket control?

It does appear to be an actuator does it connect to the locking mechanism?

How many wires does it have?

Depending on the above yes you possibly could get it to work. Some aftermarket kits are central locking not remote locking. Central locking kits require the driver door the master to have 5 wires and the slaves to have 2 if you are using a remote kit and are not fussed about Central and just want keyless entry then you only require all the doors to have 2 wires

i definately have central locking already (i presumed this was standard on a gsr?), there are 4 wires from the driver door one blue/red, blue/black, brown yellow, black and its connected to the locking mechanism

i found on auslancer that i can splice into the central locking with the aftermarket receiver for the remote and that should work? this is if i have non remote central locking, but my key has the button on it and it seems to be a mitsubishi key?

so:
do gsr's come with remote central locking? if not why do i have a key with a button
how can i tell if there is a remote receiver in the car somewhere
i noticed on another thread that there was a gsr central locking diagram but it didnt work, where can i find this diagram?

thanks
mat

thanks benzo4gt, thats what i was thinking but i am unsure what the button on the key is for? i just had a thought is it just a boot release button?

can i use a 5 wire receiver to a 4 wire actuator?

The key looks exactly the same as the key for my Evo...so possibly the ignition has been broken in the past and replaced with an Evo item??

The gsr has central locking but not remote, unless it's an option for jspec? If it were me I'd go buy a 2 door remote kit and just install the drivers actuator. That way when you press the button it will unlock the drivers door which will then make the others open. Or install an alarm with controls the central locking and them you have immobiliser and remote opening :)

Yep, I did a mongoose m80g. All you have to is hook up the the wires under the dash for central locking and it'll work all doors with a remote. And your car will be more secure and may even bring your insurance down if it's a compliant alarm.

Can you put up a pic of both keys together? I'd be able to tell you if they are the same. If they are one would be worn that's why you need 2 keys to get in. You can get a new key cut from the code stamped on the remote key and it might do all locks.

Or the ignition may have been changed that's why you have the remote key for it and a standard key for the doors. Pajero lancer and some other mitsus use similar barrels so that remote key could be from a diff model?

If you car did have remote central locking I remember some else was looking for a module and said it is in the boot on the left. Near the aeriel on evos I think
