I was playing with the rocker covers to fit my newer one and noticed that the evo 94mdl one (blue) is a fair bit different to the vr4 88mdl one (red)

I'm sure that the concept of a rocker cover that "breathes easier" really doesn't make a (Swear Jar) difference whatsoever in terms of your cars longevity or performance.

Seriously, it's cosmetic.

Those ridges are nothing to do with breathing easier thats for sure as there is no apparent reason as to why it would :p It may have something to do with rocker cover strength to stop it from bending and ultimately cracking when you tension it down  OR, it may help the oil drip from the ridges (instead of baking a flat surface) and assisting in heat dissapation perhaps? OR... just a plain old different mould design

Some good points.
Different models had different torque settings....so,different moulds may have been manufactured to aid strength..especially if its made from a lighter (perhaps more crushable) metal....

you have one point aboutthe heat 8)

but its alot more room in there than the 88mdl cover :p

the evo stuff is always going to be better designed
