Hey guys, atm i have done a dogey job of running cables through a hole on the passenger side, but was wondering if there is a better way?

Cheers

there isnt really a better way. just run a rubber ring around the cut so your cables dont rub through.
the best u can do is use a facotry firewall hole just to neaten it up. but if u already cut the hole there isnt much u can do apart fom protect the cabling.

no i havent cut a hole, i really want to avoid that. I just pused out the rubber gromet from an existing cable run and ran my cables behind it. So now my firewall isnt sealed, it looks crap, and its a long run. Are there any spare holes behind the heat shield stuff in the middle of the firewall?

Definitely run it through a rubber grommet, and use thick plastic conduit to be double sure (its a tight squeeze, you may have to remove factory grommet and use rubber ring instead around the hole). Having cables run through the firewall without any protection is a potential fire hazard when the wires rub through and earth out on the firewall. Its not a case of 'if' it is a case of 'when' as it WILL happen. If it does say bye-bye to your car as it goes up in flames.

the best place to run wires is through the firewall / closest to the gaurd

there are 3 loom holes in the firewall

1 on the LHS top corner
1 on the RHS top corner
1 on the LHS behind the glove box..

but the top corner ones will require you to remove the splash/ wheel covers under the panel.. takes some time!!

but looks alot neater!

**** i currently have my amp power cable running exactly how you say i shouldn't.

Will change it straight away thanks for the heads up.

If running power to an Amp, you put a fuse as close as possible to your battery (right next to the terminal if you can) so if the power cable earths out anywhere from the battery to the Amp the fuse will blow  But always best to do things right from the start and keep safe by insulating your power cables. Having good insulation also reduces the amount of interference the power cable can cause to your stereo etc so the use of noise supressors will be kept at a bare minimum and only if you need them :) Another tip to reduce noise through your speaker wires is to run your power cable on the opposite side of the inside of your car to what the speakers run on. i.e. run power to your amp on driver side, and wiring to your speakers and subs all on the passenger side

yep barry's on the money

drivers side
take wheel off
remove plastic shroud ****
look up to firewall, you'll see a thick heap of loom you wan get some more cable though
