i tried a magnetic sump nut replacement and am wondering if it is mating with the sump pan surface correctly or if the thread is partially stripped.

QN1: is the face that the sump nut mates flush/flat or does it have a dome shape washer that a flat washer then mates up against to become flush and stop sump oil from draining between service intervals?

QN2: does anyone have the recommended torque/tension setting of this nut and are they commonly stripped?

will try to source photos better describe my query.

Get yourself a pack of copper washers, replace every oil change. When I do mine up I hold on to the ratchet close to the nut so there's not much leverage and go by feel. You can feel when the copper washer beds.

I have an overhaul manual for 4g63t and it says 39 Nm, but that seems a tad high, anything around 30 Nm should be enough IMO. Someone else might chime in with some suggestions ;)

solution: remove magnetic sump plug, new gasket washer on OEM plug problem solved
