Some guy just emailed me and reckons he can get an RVR hsg, manual, with 80,000 kays on it for 5500. Surely it has not become THAT much of a buyers market?? He might be full of shit too.

I may as well just part the thing out, which is completely retarded. I guess a few people have sold cars lately, what has your experience been vs market value?

If he can get it for that price why is he emailing you?

Other ones probably fucked or got other issues anyway.

I have seen them for 7k though.

It's in a different state, and he doesn't want to go and get it. (it's in qld, I'm in SA). He reckons from his conversations with the owner there has been no interest in it (true), but by the same token a few that are for sale on carsales still are still there from a year ago. Whats the interest like on other cars? Maybe its simply price point, not necessarily make/model?

Dunno, I've notice people on other forums having trouble shifting any performance car when a year or two ago they would have sold very fast.

I think it just maybe the market at the moment. Nobodies looking to buy, so the people who are desperate to sell have to drop thousands off dragging the price down.

Yes, true true indeed. And once a low price has been had, everyone expect to be able to buy one for that price.

Plus I guess the whole P - plater market is gone, thanks australian government :D Bah, I'll perservere! Hehe...

i got my manual HSG with rebuilt forged motor for $8800 and that was pushing it...tell him thats nice that he can get one that cheap but then he can factor in the price to go down and get it and all the extra fuel he will need and then he will probably be back at your price ;)

Don't forget the flood of newer EVO's has something to do with it. You can get an EVO 5 for $15k now.....

There was 1 in Brisbane that was that price! Bit of a shitbox though and had been sitting out in the weather for afew years and was rather rusty to. The motor had been replaced with 1 from a vr4 and the car was a lower spec rvr not a hypergear or anything special! Have seen afew round $5500-$8000 when I was looking for a vr4 late last year.

I paid $9300 for my Auto.
81,000km.

I'd probably get 9k for it now as it's in good condition and has a fair few mods (towbar, additional wiring stuff, inbuilt chargers etc..)
That said.... It's worth what someone will pay.

Yeah turbo nutter, I've seen that on carsales, blue with a white stripe? Looked like a bit of a POS.

I think a big issue is people not distinguishing between an SSG and a HSG on purpose. If it was an Rx7 Spirit R though, oh thats different :D

And so true, only worth what someone will pay for it, and everyone is pretty unwilling to part with their cash right now. It's fair enough. I work in a second hand store, I should be used to this by now hehehe...

I guess you guys are abit like me when you see cars you really love that are cheap as you can't understand why they ever get so low! My greatest loves VR4's, GTR and S6-S8 RX7

I know, I still can't understand how an r32 GTR, even a shitty broken one, is still around the 10k mark, and a decent condition VR4 is 5k. I wouldn't straight swap my VR4 for a GTR :D

I know what you mean.I think its down to popularity that drives the prices.A bit like the1981 sigma turbo, only 500 made, wasn't a bad car after a couple of tweaks but you could pick one up for $5000 in 1995 wheras a standard sigma was $3000 to $4000.

Starion and cordias back in early 90s,the cordia was more expensive to buy because it was popular with young guys, as it was lighter than a starion so it went fast for its time and could be thrown around corners.but the starion was way more expensive when new and better overall handling/built but slower.(by the way, i have driven both cars as well, cordia is a great car and fun but starion feels more stable and nuetral around corners.and thats not just my opinion, also in original writeups.)

Even look at the Galant/Legnums now,vey cheap for what your getting,$15000 for a 2000 model in australia.
A freind of mine in new zealand rekons that the original vr4 is fetching the same prices as the newer v6 version, you can get a 98 vesion for around $6000 or less ,all to do with popularity as the older one is more popular.

Nearly every model of car be vr4 or gtr hit a price which is rock bottom! They sit there and don't really go any lower I put this down to the cost of parts! A gtr evan a shit 1 still has atleast $5000 worth of parts if you break it up. As for RVR's people just don't no what they are! I can remember in the mid to late 90's when Cefiro's started coming into Australia and nearly every buyer was an old couple till drifting took off than every boy racer wanted 1. But before that they dropped down to around $5000-$7000 than picked back up when they became popular. Originallly they got priced about the same as an r32 gtst.
