Hey guys,

Theres a few (less than 5) spots remaining for the day im attending next week so I thought id see if anyone else is keen to come down.

Its a co-hosted event through the Victorian Porsche Car Club and this events company (below).

Events O’Neill Sandown Drive Day to be held on Thursday 20th August 2009 at Sandown Raceway from 8.00am to 5.00pm.

The event is an advanced driver education day providing one-on-one in-car tuition from professional instructors on the main circuit. Please read the event rules and regulations at www.eventsoneill.com under Sandown Drive Days carefully before attending the event.

The day is structured for driving enthusiasts to spend time on the circuit with instructors providing feedback on the correct lines and how to improve your overall ability. This will certainly be handy advice with the upcoming Club Sprint (change if terminology incorrect) being held at Sandown that weekend!

There are no timing beacons/lap timers allowed, this is purely a day to learn the lines and focus on smoothness and consistency, and enjoying the track with likeminded enthusiasts. Morning tea and a catered lunch are included, as is espresso coffee all day. We have secured Porsche specialist Peter Fitzgerald as an instructor on the day, as well as ex Carrera Cup racer Matt Coleman, and ex V8 Supercar Drivers Dean Canto and Luke Youlden. Plenty of experience there to help with your lines!

In order to ensure every driver receives adequate track time, the day is limited to 40 drivers allocated on a first come, first served basis. Allocations for the upcoming drive day will close on Monday 17th May or when filled. Places must be pre-paid and are only confirmed upon receipt of your payment.

Cost of the event:
Circuit only: $375.00 (incl. GST)
Non-driving Guest: $ 50.00 (incl. GST)

If anyone is keen PM me and ill send you the details.

$375!? :w00t:

Sounds good and should be alot of fun, but too rich for my blood.

Driver Dynamics do a really good open pit lane day at Sandown for $275 with experienced instructors, food/drink etc.

i think the extra coin is because they have pit/service crews from ferrari/porsche/maserati to help out the rich peeps :p

wont help me much tho lol

i'd come as pit crew! but its on a thursday.... work sucks when cool events are on!...

What an absolute blast today was!

not without its fair share of issues, but nonetheless, ill be back at it again shortly. Hopefully with some more T4Gians :p

So how did the beast feel on the track Dan?.....and have you now been bitten by the circuit addiction bug?!!:p

fkn awesome scotty.

Its funny tracking it for the 1st time, in terms of how shit your driving actually is haha ....

I had a few ex v8 supercar and porsche GT cup drivers for instructors through the day, one of whom said my main issue was obviously how little faith I had in the car. So he suggested I hand him the keys for a few laps, and OMFG, I have never been so fucking scared shitless in my whole entire life! LOL..... No laps to get used to the car or anything, straight out and on the limit, up on 2 wheels around corners..... brakes were smoking when we got back in to the pits. He said the only letting the car down was the tires.

I had one off for the day and thankfully didint hit anything. :)

will be back at it again shortly. I need to get some coilovers happening, and set up a cooler for my PS system. A new seat for me is really needed too, I couldnt stand doing more than 5 or so laps the way its setup now.

awesome bro- i'm keen to go racing with ya! :)

by the way (a bit o.t I know) shayne, keep us posted as to how those R888's go!

Ah, I've had to pass on the R888s for the short term :(

Two reasons - 1) I don't have the $$$ for them at the moment, after having the front struts completely rebuilt (they were faaaaaaarked) and 2) I can't justify spending that much on those sort of tyres when my driving ability (or lack of..!) at this stage really won't take full advantage of them.

I've just picked up a second set of EVO6 rims for a bargain price so I'll be storing them away for when I can afford the Toyos so I don't burn them out on the road driving to and from the track!

Sounds like my first track day - the old bloke I had take my car around for a couple of laps had me hanging onto the "jesus bar" for dear life!!

I have a set of them on my GSR for track days, they heat up very quickly and stick like glue but after 3 laps they seem to get too hot and start to fail.
