Good ol' eBay! Scored myself a first gen Gizzmo ebc for $120 NEW IN THE BOX :D

Will be getting Danny at Springy motors to set it up for me on the dyno along with a major service.

With full 3" exhaust, metal cat, chinese mani and split dump, stainless intake and pod, modified wastegate spring (previous owner, runs about 12psi but creeps up to 14/15 right at redline) it made 171awkw on their dyno without boost controller (hypergear rvr).

I'm not particularly chasing stacks more power, just a more steady midrange, achieving full boost and holding it steady earlier, which is the main reason i bought a reputable electronic one as opposed to just fitting a $20 bleed valve.

Anyone recommend max boost, mechanically everything is in top nick...I've heard guys running up to 18psi without any dramas? With my mods, and 16-18psi, would i see much more power or just a better torque curve?

Cheers in advance!

Sorry to burst your bubble but its cheap for a reason...I had one of these and it was a prick to set up.
Got rid of it quick smart.

Maybe your tuner knows how they work etc...They aren't the best user interface that's for sure.

Really? Dam, I actually did quite a bit of research before purchasing (i was looking at all the jap brands too) and found very little negative feedback from users regarding the gizzmo.... And they're not actually all that cheap, retail is between $300-400 depending on the model, I just got mine cheap cause the guy bought it at a clearence center not knowing way it was lol (he didn't own a turbo car)
See how my mechanic goes, Worst case scenario, It's a pain, I won't use it, no big $ loss... ;)

There not not hard once there set up ran one for a couple of years, in saying my tuner did the hard work.

I had one, sold it on ebay a few months back actually, switched to boost control in ECMLink.

I didn't find the interface that hard to use once you work it out, the manual covers it fine, though it is certainly not obvious what is happening without the manual.

Not that hard to set them up, dial in the duty cycle like a MBC's fixed dial would do, it's the same concept, then add gain until the boost overshoots too much on spool.

Just go fuel pump, E85 and injectors.
You'll be happy there =)

Spoke to Danny today bud, he recond with standard turbo an e85 tune isn't really worth it.
Will get him to install and tune some decent boost into the ebc and toss up if I want to bump up the fuel system and wind it up more with e85 later I recon ;)

Baz got plenty out of 98 ron...

There are build up guides on dsm tuner.com, they will give you step by steps.

My2c, pump and tune and boost. can't tell you how much boost, but i can say that i like my deutsworks pump. its not a whinebro

Yeah would rather stick with the more readily available 98ron fuel, like i said I'm not trying to squeeze every last bit of power out of it, I still want to keep It reliable.

Sounds like a bigger fuel pump is a good idea along with the ebc and tune though...

If no e85.
Why not a Walbro 255 and possibly a set of 550cc injectors from a later model EVO?

Plus a fuel pressure reg, nos and motec exhaust....
That should do it!

Lol @ nos and motec exhaust. Will that enable me to run the quarter mile in 2 mins and smash through roughly 38 gears to get there whilst flexing my tricep the entire time??

Update:

Ended up pulling 184awkw with the ebc intalled on the high setting of 16psi.
It has 4 settings starting at 10psi.
Very east to toggle through the settings, and according to the boys at springy, it was an easy install/setup.
Pulls harder from down low even on the low setting, and really gets going with 16psi....just by chance, the night I picked it up I was on my way out and ended up giving an e46 m3 a good run....he 'just' had me truth be told but was happy to hang with the Bavarian hero car!
Anyway, overall happy with the little gizzmo, and that bit more boost from the 4g ;)
