How loud are most screamers on stock TD05 setups? Has anyone got a video of one?

The cop siren pulling you over for noise is louder. I used to run a separate muffler for my external wastegate years ago.

screamers from internal gates sound gay.

if you want to vent the wastegate, it will be 100 times better with a TIAL.

reason being, is a proper external gate is a popit valve and sometimes (depending on set PSI) can "chatter" causing the "rrrarrrarrrarr" sound hahahah

vent internals sound terrible because the wastegate flapper actually deflects the exhaust gas into the side of the wastegate passage. they tend to wind up with a rather "hollow" sound

Your wastegate doesn't chatter at all that's the back pressure back spinning your turbine blades..
Yes they are "ILLEGAL" but can't get past that awesome vented sound you get from them

Anyway, I had a screamer pump pipe and they're not that loud, and don't sound that bad. I would recommend, considering how cheap they go for.

It won't sound that loud from inside the car if it's vented underneath, but from outside the car you'll be able to hear it several blocks away. Not good.

Technically if you're running a Catalytic converter to the back of the car... it's not illegal. As for volume, car at 3/4 of the Rev Limit shouldn't boost the turbo causing it to dump, so technically, not illegal.

But otherwise, no I don't know what the fine is.

If you think getting a $524 DECC fine AND a defect notice for a loud exhaust is one thing, imagine how much they'll fine you when you purposely vent unprocessed exhaust gasses into the atmosphere via a screamer pipe. (no cat converter can be up to a $10,000 fine)

I've never heard of anyone in the world getting a $10k fine for no cat! Plead ignorance and i'm sure you'd get away with a warning.

I got pulled up by Pettit (notoriously ruthless TMU officer) and he wasn't even that worried about the screamer on my 38mm TiAL 'gate on my old VR4 (but I guess he was too busy going over the car for other things) :lol:

Never mind the 2 blocks- you can hear them from 2 suburbs away!!!

I been in the car from another member on there, cracking gate through the tunnel, and my ears were ringing after for like 5 min. It sends shivers down my back its that loud haha.
People jump back off the footpath to.
Its so funny, you see some kid walking down the street, drop it down a gear, then give em gate lol

I Just bought myself a tial 38.
Now i have to resist the temptation to vent it rather than recirculate. :angry:
Would be so much fun but im wary of cops enough as it is.

With that skyline video, i was standing out from of my GF's house with her brother, next to my vr4 and hi 180sx. A skyline cruises up the road and i give him a dirty lok, the bloke just gives me this big cheeky grin as he goes past, drops it down a gear and comes sideways out the roundabout just after her house, cracking gate, smashing the limiter.

yes it is because it can still bypasses the cat. Luckily most cops dont really know what there looking for or don't care but if you get a cunt prepare to get raped, I know of a few people getting $2K+ fines for screamer pipes.
