After getting back out to the track I realised that I need to upgrade my tyres.

I have worked out that I can comfortably fit a 245/40/17 Z214 from Hankook after some massaging on the rear flares. What I wanted to know is has anyone fitted a 245/40/18 semi slick on the rear?

If you look at 1010 tires http://1010tires.com/Tools/Tire-Size-Calculator/215-45R17/245-40R17/245-35R18/245-40R18 the height difference between the 215/45/17 and the 245/40/17&235/35/18 is minimal. The issue however is if I run a 245/40/18 with the overall diametre hence the question on height fitment. Going outwards is no issue. Going up into the guards is another problem all together.

The issue with the 245/35/18 is the limited tyres with there being only Kuhmo and Hankook.

I am going to buy these rims in either a 17X8 or a 18X8.5 http://www.koya.com.au/?cars=cr-tek-1718big-brake-compatible as you can choose your offset.

the 18 in a 245 40 will be pretty tall, that's about 10-12mm taller than a 265/35-18.

if you are running 245/40 in the 17 or 18 I would go the 17 to save weight, there is no advantage going to an 18 in the same tyre size, side walls and tread width are the same in both of course.

out of interest do you know how much those rims weigh luke?

I can find out tomorrow. At $250 they are pretty good value in a 17*8 in any offset that I want.

I have some 265-35-18s on the way going on 18x9.5 +15 RPF01s :) should fit in there nicely

also depending on the offset you want have a look at the rpf's (if you can get the right offset) as they are bloody light and about $60-70 a wheel more than those ones. (depending on the weight of the koya of course)

Issue I am having is finding a 17x8 in a 30 offset.

Ideally I will run 26ish as that will allow for the 245 on the 8 inch rim.

A 17x8.5 at +25 would be ideal

I could run a bolt on 10mm spacer on the rear. This would rid me of wheel choice issues
