Hi Guys,
Replaced all the bushes in the shifter assembly which improved the gear change no end but still when its in gear it has alot of side to side movement. It looks like the spring is worn out. Anyone have experience with this ? I've taken a video of it .

There are bushes on both ends if I recall correctly, so the play might be a combination of both.

Cheapest and best way I've found to fix this is to buy a cheap cutting board, then shape the pieces to fit tight, then in the centre, drill either A: A hole to fit the inner ring and press in or B: drill to fit without the centre metal piece, which is what I have done. Remember to put grease on all parts that make contact, and find some washers to fit either side of the new bushes. This is for an OEM throw.

What I did is drill a hole half way along the lever and put a stainless steel bolt in and did as above but used 2 nuts to lock it instead of the pins. Tighten the nuts up but not too tight because they need to pivot. This will give you a nice short throw as well as addressing the bush issue.

I can take some pics for you if you need.

Cheers guys,
I've replaced all the bushings on the shifter assembly with Oem parts so I'll try the bushes on the gearbox side.
Thanks

Replaced the 2 bushings with solid brass bushings at the gearbox and still has the side to side play in gear. Any ideas ?
Thanks

check the pivot point in the shifter also change out the base bushes and shfter end bushes but i think you will likly always have some play it's the downside of a cable system

Hey darren325i, did you replace these too? If not, you require 6 of them all up.

My guess is that the sleeve in the main linkage is worn.
The spring appears to be acting like it should (well at least like mine).

For a complete shifter revamp you need:
4x MB580253
2x MB367320
1x MB307949
1x MB871927 (Sometimes you will get this sleeve/collar you get solid shifter base bushes)
And also obviously the shifter base bushes (MR103559) and the gearbox side shifter cable bushes (MD719165) which we generally use aftermarket solid items.

Refer attached mark up for shifter bushes

Thanks for the help guys, it's really starting to bug me, I've spent over 100 euros but still pretty much the same. I think you might be onto something there candiancd9a, I took a video of the bushings at the gearbox before I replaced it with the brass items, I'll post it up to see what you guys think.
Thanks
Darren
