I have had really shitty sloppy crunchy gear changes in my car for the last few months. A combination of Dia Queen fluid and a new slave cylinder has fixed those problems, and now my car (3.909 5spd RVR Sports Gear) shifts like a dream.

There was still a little bit of slop in the shifter, so I just fitted some brass shifter bushes from meek- the 2nd set i've owned and let me tell you- these are one of the best mods anyone can do for the price!!! Only took 10 mins to install aswell.

These were the state of my old ones (one of them wasn't that bad)

With the new ones installed the shifter is nice and tight!

has anyone installed the shifter base bushes yet?? I might be keen to do that next

the shifter base ones make a massive difference.

i have replaced all the bushes and the cup and its like new.no play at all in the lever now.

do you think these bushings will increase syncro wear?
No.

yeah George I got rid of all the squishy Mitsu bushes as well.
(got Cusco Hypergum shifter bushes...love my bling lol)
The gear-shift is beautiful. No slop, just snick-snick through the gears with one finger effort.

Hmmm I have slop still and I have the undershifter ones. Just think I am expecting too much from my 15 year old car.

I have fitted the Brass shifter bushes that were on ebay.. big difference, along with base plate and shorter shifter.. Its nice and tight.. Big difference from the old factory setup.

Hmmmm, I think those were the ones I bought.... but may have installed in the wrong place hahahaa.

Have been doing a little work on this E1 I bought the other day. The stock shifter needed to be replaced as it was cut, and the gear knob pretty much cemented on....!!

Lucky I had a spare CC shifter that was going to go into my 'borg, with a quick sand, paint and install, I went through the gears, and check out the movement from these worn bushes!

I cant quite get over how much that shit twists!

I've always envied the late model sports hondas shifters- they shift so tight and nice- my friend had an NZ new VTi-R with a 100 shot- it was tight! I'm sure with replacement bushes, we can have mechanisms that shift as good as those......

comments!??

They twist around shed loads when the consol cover is off and you notice it, also running ally sleeves to raise height of the shifter.

i dont know how the sleeves would make it worse john
as they sit against the same amount of area with or without the sleeves?
