Hey guys,

I am trying to get this thing started but all that happens is it runs rough for a second or two then dies? I have tried swapping spark leads around. I even rotated the cam sensor pickup thing in the back of the camshaft.

My compression results are ok so would it be safe to assume my timing is not out?

Any ideas guys??? Please help me :(

I should also add that by running rough I mean 1 or 2 cylinders. It looks like cylinder #3 is firing as it was the only dry plug I pulled out.

if it was off the road for a fair time disconnect your exhaust before the catalytic convertor, these have a habit of breaking down inside and blocking you exhaust, will cause it to run rough and stop after a few seconds.

1-4 are the same coil. Pull that coil and swap it with the 2-3 coil. Retest if still missing on 1-4 or not. If 2-3 are now missing, then it is bad coil. If still dead on 1-4 then try change ignitor box, check for ignition signal from ecu.

I just want to say a big thanks to you guys though for the super fast responses and great troubleshooting information.

To save me starting a new thread, with the cam sensor does it matter what way the pickup thing that goes into the back of the cam goes in?

I think so. If you look real close on the back, you should see some alignment marks on the CAS. I cant really remember what they were, I think it was a 'dot' or a dimple on the CAS body and then a little notch on the spade that goes into the cam. If you put it in wrong, it would be like having a distributor 180* out. If you cant work it out, post a photo of the CAS and it'll jog my memory.

Try this.

There is a slot on the end of the paddle wheel. There is a notch on the small round part of the CAS. The slot and the notch should line up. Then the CAS is in proper phase. The CAS should then be installed with the connector UP facing the throttle body side. The motor should be in TDC when you install the CAS so both paddle wheel and slot on the cams line up.
