Guys, my shifter had developed a bit of play in it so took it apart and had a look,
the bushings that go on the 2 bolts that run through the selector mech (forward & reverse bits ) had disintegrated over time .......
Now the big question is ....... is it easier/cheaper just to buy the hole sifter mech or does someone have/know of part numbers for the 2 sets bushings or has this been
incounted befor and a solution found.
I mean apart from buying parts from mitsubishi.
Thanks Grant

If you mean the bushes at the gearbox end try here

http://www.ebay.com/itm/DSM-UH-SHIFTER-CABLE-BUSHINGS-KIT-Eclipse-Talon-Short-/250792227319?hash=item3a6461b1f7&item=250792227319&pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr

There are other suppliers as well, meek do them for example, so the above is just a sample.

If you mean the bushes at the gearstick end then I could only ever find mitsubishi ones, and it is cheaper to repair your mechanism than buy a new one. There is a thread somewhere here on gearstick bushes, if I find it I will post a link

This extract is from that thread, prices are from Mitsubishi. Dunno how current they are...

i made my own from commodore nolathane sway bar bushes. people have also used coiled up cans as ghetto fixes. my nolathane fix is now in 2 car and mine have lasted 5years so far with zero slop
