 conflict

Maybe we should start a conflict section? Where E-men can go man to man and battle it out in a war of keyboard fury...

That was one of the more amusing threads I've read for quite a while guys, thanks for the laughs! in the end did the train of conversation ever go back to Tharaka's original topic?

I've had my car to Ray at RE Customs to have the AFR checked and timing done on his dyno, I'd recommend him based on what I've seen of his workshop and the care he took of my car while running it.

nah i dont think it ever did.

I did however have the pleasure of meeting him (Bought cooler/piping) and had a brief chat about his engine. unfortunate turn of events really.

my mate bought the head for his car... he took it down to an engine builder to have it stripped and rebuilt...well lets just say.. the head was fucked and only things useable were cams/retainers and valve springs.

all 16 valves were fucked.. they had eaten away(rubbed) on the shaft
all 16 valves had detonation marks
afew of the valves had the rear skirts on them fucked (spark plug bit loose)
head had detonation marks around the sealing bore (massive holes, very pitted)

on another note!

here is a little update:
http://4gtuner.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8289&start=15

it seems that the intercooler piping had cracked welds on them, which would have caused the turbo to run inefficiently to make the same amount of boost... therefor very hot air and a lean mixture..

this would also be another reason that the engine would have detonated.

Just checked it now.. torch in dark room.

Looks like the welds were just to thin and came through.. If i put it on the car now the pipe would break off me thinks.. ill have to get this section redone. ah well. thems the breaks..

yeah it looks like thin welds.. Ill get it all fixed up.

The welds are generally good all round on the stainless.. no issues. Just the one section which was a bit rushed to get the car back on the road.

Oh for anyones interest, The support for the cooler is different between Aspec and Jspec. Have to fit a Jspec one to my car to make the cooler line up correctly.

apart from that, no other complaints , should all go on smoothly.
