Software update

I will be updating the IPB software later today. The board will be down for about 2 hours, but I don't anticipate any major problems, as I already tested the update on a separate server. There are lots of changes and improvements. The look & feel of the board will be similar, but some buttons/links will be in a different place. There are updates to every part of the forum, including it's mobile client, gallery and garage.

If you notice any problems after the update, let me know, and I will try to help.

Maybe its just because of the buttons are easier to see when a new post is up

Very happy with the new layout, only question is using this on my iphone today it wouldn't let me choose "Page X" rather it would take me to page 1 then last post page where i wanted to be.

An update is a fresh welcome Robtom :thumbsup: . Some nice touches here and there and Ive noticed a speed increase as well. Images and fonts look much sharper and vibrant.
Some feedback thus far that Ive noticed:
1. PC - There's some javascript issues with hidden buttons not in full view. eg when you click on the down arrow for your profile, looks like its chopped off and you cant see any buttons. Same for when you try to add pics to your Garage. Buttons and images are cut off.
2. PC - The font size looks a little smaller and its not auto resizing to use the entire widescreen (Ive got a 24" widescreen on 1920x1080). There's about 2" either side of the outer forum window just showing plain grey background.
3. Mobile - A BIG improvement in viewing and speed when using it on the mobile phone :thumbsup: .

I'm loving all the new adds on mobile view. So tempting. Viagra $1 a pill!!!!

But in all seriousness the new layout is great and easy to use but like above, having issues with mobile where it opens the first page, and no option for last page.

Example when opening "YouTube thread" it opens at 2008. And only way to get to present is keep clicking next as no option for last page

Yes, we can add another style and make it user selectable. I noticed lots of people like dark styles, but the problem is that some people just hate them. I would prefer to stay with neutral default style, like the one we have now, and make 'dark' style selectable.

When you click on the Thread it should take you to the last unread post. For this functionality to work you need to be logged in. I tested it on long threads, like the 'Happy Birthday' thread and it seem to work fine. If you are not logged in, it would take you to the first page, if you log in, it would take you to the last unread post.
You can also mark the whole board as read to make sure you always end up with the latests posts. To mark the board read, click on the four-squares icon in the top right-hand side corner on your mobile and select 'Mark All Read'

What browser are you using? I tried to reproduce the problem with the latest Chrome & IE, but everything looks OK. IE has some problems with the links to 'Change Theme', and 'Mark Community' at the bottom, but this is rather minor problem - I notified the style creator, and waiting for the fix.

This is just the way the style was created - with fixed margins. It is exactly the same as the previous one we had. You can increase the fonts by pressing the CTRL button and the '+' sign (CTRL and '-' to decrease)

That should not happen! The database was changed, but no data should be erased. Anyone else has this problem?

The old software was using both the profile picture and an avatar, but with the upgrade there is only one pic representing a person. The new software used the profile pic when running the update.

That seams to work when going in through the individual thread but when I went in via "new content" it still goes back to page 1 on nws thread for example.

Hi Gianni, Thanks for clarifying this. It actually affects both the mobile and the PC skins. The solution is completely counter-intuitive, but quite simple:

When you click on the link it will always take you to the first post. To get to the first unread post, you need to click on the grey dot (to the left of the link).
The dot is blue on the mobile, but it works the same way.

The one on the pic I included in my previous post? It is only used for admin/mod functions. You shouldn't be able to see it.....unless we are talking about two different things..

On our view there is a tick we can click where the persons title box is on a post. I thought it was a like button

Just click on the Smiley ' ' and all of them will show below the post typing area.
