Well well well...

My car has broken again :p
This is the story... only monday & yesterday (tuesday) I started to realise/hear my that when i took my foot off the clutch pedal, there was still the normal spring back that was occuring, but i also could hear/feel a slight click, but this was only occasionally and wouldnt happen all the time.

Anyways, on the way home from work tonight (6pm peak hour), im driving home, and im like 'hey its clicking all the time now, yay, i can show my mechanic what im talking about, and im not paranoid'. Anyways got to the next set of lights, and i heard a deeper click, and im like hmm, that wasnt right.

Anyways light goes click, clutch in, massive clunk, no spring/pressure any more. Clutch doesnt seem to be springing back, couldnt get it in2 gear, and got a guy to help me push my car out of the way straight away (tnxs heaps to that guy btw). Anyways whilst waiting for mr.tow truck again for the second time this year (ha lucky i got road side assist) I tried having a look myself at the problem.

I took this picture. (Yea i knw its shit quality but u get the idea)
What is it and how much? :D

Theres a nice crack there. To top it off, i want to get my front bar re-aligned again after fixing it not long ago from smash. Im not sure whats happened (proberly chain from tow truck), but the front bar has like a gap on one side under the headlight which i can stick my finger in. Ghey.

Suppose it could be worse. Could of broken down alot further away, or fallen off a cliff... :)

is that under the dash?

looks like the clutch pedal bracket that is broken. quite common.
is it a gsr? if so i would recomend a evo 1-3 one as they are much thinker and i dont think they can break real easy.

thats what i have done because mine broke also.
hasnt broke yet :) been 1yr so far, and im running a real heavy clutch.

yeah thumbs up to road side assistance..

towed my car like 3 times in the past 2 months :D all for free as well..

Yep its under the dash.

Yea it seems the bracket is broken, but i thought it still would of worked? Something else might be broken too. Does that mean a new clutch pedal box? Is that what its called?

I've already put in a new master/slave cyclinders & new exedy sports tuff clutch/bearings. Wonder what will be next to go? :p

Btw, I want my mechanic to check if the slave cyclinder is the correct one put in a while back by a different mechanic across from my dads work. Is there a part number or some easy way to tell that its a CC GSR slave cyclinder or are they the same as a normal cc lancer or impossible to fit the incorrect part etc? I know the master is definately the correct one, and I can see it.

Also, yea racv road side definately worth it. Has gone to 20kms free towing, and you get free taxi worth up to $50 :D Great stuff by them :D

yeh clutch box pedal bracket or somthing like that.

when mine broke the clutch radomly stuck to the floor every now and then and had to lift it back up with my foot..

i would atleast swap that and then see how it is.

ouch. atleast it's not a gearbox mate or a clutch. from the rest of the blokes here it seems not a a huge task to fix.

yea sweet :)
mine actually use to be like 'sticky' at the bottom, but when i got my new clutch it went away so i never worried about it

anyways all is well
will get it fixed, might be time for a service if mechanic has time or in the next 3 weeks :)

don't wanna bring you down or anything man, but was just readin this topic, and i have had the similar problem. Yeah ya clutch pedal box is broken, and its pretty easy and cheap to replace. Hower make sure you inspect under the engine bay near where your clutch fluid res is (bolted to the firewall). Have a very good look around there against the firewall and make sure there is no sign of firewall flex or cracking, as this is a good reason why your pedal box may have broken. This was the case with mine. If it is, you have many choices, get someone who's very keen to weld it (last resort as sound deadner = flames) create a bracket (which i have dimensions for) and bolt it between the box and firewall, or chop another section out of a half cuts firewall and make a sort of double layer to strengthen it. Another option that a mate did, was put 3 firewalls in which has manage to withstand a heavy duty clutch so far with no problems.
If this is the case and you want more info, pm me.

Shadow.

We just check or change them whenever we do a clutch.
Should have been checked then.
Still dont see why you need road service
any how just start it in gear and your away.
