I got as far as warrigal rd when it sounds like i spun a bearing :( Dissapointed yes, angry no not really, i was sort of expecting it due to a few articles i read about the 7 bolt motorshaving that same prob from the factory

http://www.roadraceengineering.com/walkingcrankshaft.htm

so looks like ill be off road for a little bit, gonna get a 6 bolt crank and do what i wanted to do to top end. But ill still come on cruises just be in my runaround car thats all......

Sorry Entaran you may have to change topic title :D i had a mate assemble bottom end ie clearances and torque specs so really im gonna get him too have a look when i pull her out this week..everything was done myself

yeah pretty bad timing as well... to happen after a rebuild as opposed to before...

sorry to lose you during a cruise as well anthony :)

Its something that couldnt be helped by the sound off it, so il take it as a learning experience...hopefully not an expensive one, my concern is that i got to it early enough not to damage rods or pistons. if it has been isolated to crank and bearings il sleep easy at night.

I was talking to my mate and he said worse case scenario ill need another crank(6 bolt this time) main bearings and piston rings. So im lucky i got to it b4 it grenaded.

if u go 6bolt.. you'll also need another flywheel to suit..
it may be a good idea to get some vr4 rods also (stronger)
or do you have aftermarket already??

Somebody upstairs loves me i thnk..... :D Drained oil from oil pan and not 1 spec of metal, then I ripped apart oil filter and no oil :shock: :? . Made a few calls and it looks like bottem end is ok.

THANK YOU GOD, ALLAH and BUDDAH

So someone has bet their balls my flywheel has come loose or clutch is faulty
explanation;

ive somehow tighten flywheel up on a slight angle now that clutch line has been replace (last saturday) im getting full pressure from the clutch which has set the flywheel straight most probably leaving 3 bolts loose resulting in a flywheel knocking about in the gearbox housing :oops:

Thats the theory anyway im gonna have fun though pulling out gearbox, on a scale of 1 to 10(10 being the hardest) how hard is it to pull gear box out?

Well hopefull it is good news.

But, If you where going to rebuild with a 6 bolt crank, I'm sure you can't use 7 bolt rods on a 6 bolt crank.
And I'd also assume that you can't put a 6 bolt crank into a 7 bolt block, at the least there would be no point, as the thrust bearing issue is more a block issue than a crank one.
