Hey guys i'm looking at buying an Evo 9 in the near future. Ive heard in japan that the evos are running mid 4s 0-100 but then in Australia ive read that the evo 9 does 5.7 and the evo 8 MR does 6.1..... I'm lost.. Did they detune the crap out of the AU delivered evos or are those times false info?
Thanks.

Motor magazine (Australia) had the Evo8 at 5.01 for the 0-100kmh. Not sure of the evo9 though. One thing to bare in mind is that the Japanese have 100 octane fuel available and yes, there would be some detuning going on for sure. I believe the E8 was rated at 195kw or similar to begin with in America and Australia as well.

Gentlemans agreement between Subaru and Mitsubishi Japan was to keep STi and Evo power to 206kW. Until evo 10 when it was upped to 217kW.

Not true. The gentleman's agreement was highest advertised power output was 206kw but evos stopped making 206 a while ago newer ones are more like 230kw at the fly

Japanese-spec cars were limited by a gentlemen's agreement to advertise no more than 280 PS (206 kW; 276 hp), a mark already reached by Evolution IV. Therefore, each subsequent version has unofficially evolved above the advertised power figures, with the Japanese-spec Evolution IX reaching an alleged output of around 321 PS (236 kW; 317 hp). Various versions available in other markets, particularly the UK, have official power outputs up to 446 PS (328 kW; 440 hp).

+1 Jamo. The Gentlemans agreement was for all Japanese car makers as well. Supras and GTR's made a mockery of this.
A Jap import magazine in the late 90's chucked a "stock" Supra on a dyno and made more than the 280ps agreement at the wheels.

The other thing to note is that press cars will often have a special tune (ie more boost). I drove the press yellow Evo 8 years ago and it was definitely not stock!
