hey all, got a bunch of questions about the O2 housing/turbo elbow.

just wondering if it would it be a good idea to buy a 2.5inch aftermarket O2 housing (turbo elbow) vs the stock one when swapping out the entire exhaust system? Just wondering if the stock one is good enough or a aftermarket one would be a better choice when trying to optimize maximum exhaust flow. The aftermarket ones(megan, punishment racing, ebay etc.) out there seem to be 2.5 inch O2 housings, any idea how wide the stock O2 housing is? Should I even consider a atmospheric/external O2 housing? are the o2 bends the same to bolt up to the downpipe? I heard of ppl porting the EVO O2 as well.

more or less they are all like this one:

The Evo III O2 housings are about 2.5 inch from factory. I'm not sure about the Evo 1/2 ones though.

Those 2.5" punishment racing ones are great. I've got one on my car. The bolt pattern on the flange that goes to the front pipe is the same as the standard dump, so you can bolt a standard exhaust back up without too many hassles.

The dump pipe is always a good place to make gains, but the stock ones aren't too bad on the lancers. I made 300hp atw through a ported evo 3 O2 housing. If you're planning on changing your turbo in the future, I probably wouldn't worry about it .. save your money for now, as the stocker is sufficient for most applications.

If you're going to stick with your turbo for a good amount of time though, then you might as well swap it out while you're doing the exhaust.

thanks for the response guys, for the moment I want to stick to stock platform so while I change out the whole exhaust and port the turbo to ensure there is no boost creep I guess I will go ahead and get a aftermarket o2 housing to replace the EVO I O2 housing.. thanks for the info everyone :D
